Which Midnight Season 2 Mounts Should You Get First?
Not every mount has the same urgency. A collector should prioritize rewards attached directly to Season 2 before spending large amounts of time on permanent reputation, treasure and rare-drop farms.

The Venomous Abyss Raid Mounts
The Venomous Abyss provides two major mount objectives: Primeval Skyfriend from Mythic Ula’tek and Crimson Venomfang from the raid meta-achievement.
Primeval Skyfriend — Mythic Ula’tek
Primeval Skyfriend is the signature Mythic raid mount of Midnight Season 2. It drops from Ula’tek on Mythic difficulty, the eighth and final boss of The Venomous Abyss.
The important Season 2 loot rule is that a successful Mythic Ula’tek kill drops three Primeval Skyfriend mounts. This means three copies are available to the 20-player raid from a qualifying kill; it does not mean every raid member receives the mount after one clear.
Primeval Skyfriend should also be kept separate from Cutting Edge. The same Mythic Ula’tek kill can qualify a player for Cutting Edge: Ula’tek while the achievement remains active, but the mount itself is boss loot rather than the direct Cutting Edge achievement reward.

Crimson Venomfang — Glory of the Venomous Raider
Crimson Venomfang is awarded for completing Glory of the Venomous Raider.
This is a raid meta-achievement rather than a normal 8/8 clear. You must complete special encounter conditions across all eight bosses of The Venomous Abyss on Normal difficulty or higher.
The required achievements are:
- Well, Well, Little Sky;
- Accidental Inclusion;
- Jumping Through Hoops;
- Watch Out Behind You;
- Is Venom Stasis A Joke To You?;
- Kept You Waiting Huh?;
- Taking a Bite out of Slime;
- No Egg Scramble.
Because these objectives deliberately alter normal encounter execution, a planned achievement group is usually more efficient than attempting them during ordinary progression.

Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Mounts
Mythic+ gives two direct Season 2 mounts at fixed rating milestones. A third milestone at 3,400 Rating unlocks the Timelost Saddle system for collectors missing older Mythic+ mounts.
Breath of Blight — 2,000 Mythic+ Rating
Breath of Blight is awarded by Midnight Keystone Master: Season 2 after reaching at least 2,000 Mythic+ Rating.
KSM is the more accessible of the two direct seasonal Mythic+ mount goals. You do not need every dungeon at one identical keystone level because your total rating is built from performances across the full Season 2 dungeon pool.
When progressing toward 2,000, improving your lowest dungeon scores is usually more efficient than repeatedly pushing a dungeon where you already have a strong result.

Breath of Ruin — 3,000 Mythic+ Rating
Breath of Ruin is awarded by Midnight Keystone Legend: Season 2 after reaching 3,000 Mythic+ Rating.
The difficulty jump from KSM is significant. A 3,000-score character must push considerably beyond the normal weekly gearing range and maintain strong scores throughout the current eight-dungeon rotation.
The efficient strategy is to identify your weakest individual dungeon ratings and improve those first. Raising one poor score usually gives more total progress than repeatedly pushing a dungeon that is already far ahead of the others.

Bonus: Timelost Saddle at 3,400 Mythic+ Rating
Reaching 3,400 Mythic+ Rating satisfies the rating requirement for Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2 and gives access to the seasonal Timelost Saddle reward system.
A Timelost Saddle can be exchanged through Lindormi for an eligible retired Mythic+ mount or another mount from the available Timelost reward pool.
The Saddle is not counted as one of the 22 new mount names above, because it is a currency-like redemption reward rather than a new Patch 12.1 mount model.
For collectors missing older seasonal mounts, however, 3,400 can be one of the most valuable Season 2 milestones.
Season 2 Delve Mounts
Delves offer three very different mount routes: the solo Azta’rec Nemesis challenge, Delver’s Journey progression and an RNG treasure reward inside Gnarldor Isle.
Apophic Soul Crusher — Solo Azta’rec on Tier ??
Apophic Soul Crusher is awarded by Let Me Solo Him: Azta’rec.
The achievement requires defeating Season 2 Nemesis boss Azta’rec on Tier ?? without any other players in your party.
This is an actual solo challenge. A second player in the group invalidates the achievement condition even if the rest of the encounter is completed successfully.
Do not confuse this reward with the opening-week Fabled Vanquisher of Azta’rec objective. The Fabled title has an additional first-week restriction; the Apophic Soul Crusher is tied to the Season 2 Let Me Solo Him achievement itself.

Corroded Soul Crusher — Delver’s Journey Rank 5
Corroded Soul Crusher is the Season 2 Delver’s Journey mount purchase.
Reach Delver’s Journey Rank 5 and the mount becomes available from Telemancer Astrandis in Silvermoon City for 10 Voidlight Marl.
The currency cost is tiny compared with the Journey requirement. The efficient approach is therefore to progress Delver’s Journey naturally through your weekly Delve activities rather than treating the mount as a late-season currency grind.

- Delver’s Journey progression;
- gear;
- the World section of the Great Vault;
- seasonal Delve achievements;
- other Delve rewards.
Delver’s Arcane Golem — Gnarldor Isle Sturdy Chest
Delver’s Arcane Golem can be looted from a Sturdy Chest inside the Gnarldor Isle Delve.
Importantly, this is chance loot rather than a guaranteed one-time treasure reward. Opening the correct chest gives you an attempt at the mount, so more than one run may be required.

Prey Mounts in Midnight Season 2
Season 2 Prey offers one deterministic Journey mount and one RNG Nightmare Prey mount.
Preyhunter’s Fury — Preyhunter’s Journey Rank 10
Preyhunter’s Fury becomes purchasable after reaching Preyhunter’s Journey Rank 10.
After unlocking the reward, buy the mount from Construct V’anore in Astalor’s Sanctum, Silvermoon City for 2,250 Remnant of Anguish.

Do not wait until Rank 10 before thinking about the purchase currency. Accumulate Remnant of Anguish while progressing the Journey so the mount can be purchased as soon as the vendor requirement is unlocked.
Hexflame Reaver — Ral’kala Rare Drop
Hexflame Reaver is the RNG Prey mount of Season 2.
It can drop from Ral’kala, a repeatable rare encounter available through Nightmare Prey on the Coiled Isle.
This is fundamentally different from Preyhunter’s Fury:
- there is no fixed number of kills that guarantees the mount;
- repeat Nightmare Prey attempts may be required;
- you should combine attempts with Preyhunter’s Journey progression whenever possible.
Nightmare Prey becomes available with the full Season 2 launch.
Midnight Season 2 PvP Mounts
The PvP mounts should be treated as high-priority seasonal goals because their normal achievement conditions are attached to the active PvP season.
Vicious Lightbloom Boar
Vicious Lightbloom Boar is the standard rated PvP mount of Midnight Season 2, with faction-specific Alliance and Horde versions.
After reaching at least 1,000 personal rating, eligible wins in rated PvP contribute to the seasonal Vicious mount progress bar.
The first completed bar awards the current Season 2 Vicious mount. Additional completed seasonal bars can contribute toward Vicious Saddles and older eligible PvP mounts.
You do not need Gladiator rating for this reward.
Venomous Gladiator’s Goredrake
Venomous Gladiator’s Goredrake is the prestigious Gladiator mount of Midnight Season 2.
To earn it, you must:
- reach Elite rank;
- win 50 Rated 3v3 Arena matches while at Elite rank;
- finish the requirement during Midnight Season 2.
Solo Shuffle, Battleground Blitz and 2v2 can provide their own rating and seasonal rewards, but they do not replace the 3v3 win requirement for the Gladiator mount.

The Writhing Brood — Altar of Fangs Mount
The Writhing Brood is a rare dungeon mount associated with Zul’jan, the final boss of Altar of Fangs.
The mount can be obtained from the relevant Altar of Fangs dungeon loot path, including eligible Mythic/Mythic+ completion rewards.
This creates a useful overlap for collectors because Altar of Fangs is also part of the Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ pool. A single run can therefore contribute to:
- The Writhing Brood attempts;
- Mythic+ Rating;
- Great Vault progress;
- current dungeon gear;
- Keystone Master or Keystone Legend progression.

Zul’jarra’s Forces Renown Mounts
Zul’jarra’s Forces unlock three mount objectives through the Patch 12.1 Renown track. Because the same reputation also opens other Coiled Isle systems and cosmetics, there is little reason to delay Renown progression if mount collecting is one of your goals.

Violet-Backed Skyfang unlocks at Renown 19 and is also sold by Jan’sari.
The mount costs 8,000 Voidlight Marl.
If you want both Renown vendor mounts, reserve at least 14,000 Voidlight Marl instead of spending all of the currency on lower-priority cosmetics as soon as they appear.

Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent — Captain Tokka
Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent comes from Captain Tokka’s separate friendship and Cursed Fishing progression on the Coiled Isle.
You need:
- Bloodsworn Crew, Captain Tokka’s maximum Rank 5 friendship level;
- 2,500 Coiled Filament.

Coiled Isle Exploration and Rare Mounts
The Coiled Isle has one deterministic treasure-achievement mount and two low-probability rare-creature mounts.
Auriferous Venomfang — Treasures of the Coiled Isle
Auriferous Venomfang is awarded for completing Treasures of the Coiled Isle.
This is a deterministic achievement reward rather than a rare drop. Complete every required hidden treasure criterion around the zone and the mount is awarded through the achievement.
The most efficient approach is to combine treasure collection with:
- Coiled Isle rare hunting;
- World Quests;
- Zul’jarra’s Forces Renown;
- Captain Tokka activities;
- other zone achievements.

Ruby Writhe and Topaz Skyfang — Coiled Isle Rares
Ruby Writhe and Topaz Skyfang are rare mount drops available from rare creatures around the Coiled Isle.
The most efficient strategy is not to camp one NPC indefinitely. Instead, build a loop through the island’s active rares and kill every eligible target while completing other zone content.
A practical route should combine:
- multiple rare kills;
- World Quests;
- treasures;
- Zul’jarra’s Forces progression;
- Corrosive Coin and Vault objectives where convenient.
These mounts have a very low drop chance, so there is no guaranteed number of kills that should be used as a farming promise.
Vaults of Atal’Utek Mounts
The Vaults of Atal’Utek contain three separate mount goals: a currency purchase, a long-term patrol achievement and a broader meta-achievement.
Caustic Venomfang — 10,000 Corrosive Coins
Caustic Venomfang is the main Corrosive Coin mount purchase.
It costs 10,000 Corrosive Coins and is sold by the Skull of Er’inye inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek.

This is a deterministic currency grind. If Caustic Venomfang is your main reward target, avoid spending large quantities of Corrosive Coins on lower-priority cosmetics before reaching 10,000.
Corrosive Coins are separate from Corrosive Souls and should not be confused with the latter’s seasonal equipment effects.

Emerald Skyfang — Pro Poison Patroller
Emerald Skyfang is awarded by Pro Poison Patroller.
The achievement requires completing 250 Temple Patrols inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek.
This is primarily a volume grind rather than a high-difficulty challenge. Do not farm 250 patrols in isolation if you can avoid it.
Instead, make patrol progress whenever you are already working on:
- Corrosive Coins;
- Vault events;
- Assault the Vault requirements;
- Zul’jarra’s Forces;
- other Vault achievements.
Venomous Coiler — Assault the Vault
Venomous Coiler is the reward from Assault the Vault, the larger meta-achievement for the Vaults of Atal’Utek.
The most efficient way to complete a meta-achievement is to inspect the sub-achievements you already have before starting a dedicated farm. Several objectives can overlap with the same patrol, event or Corrosive Coin route.
Best Weekly Midnight Season 2 Mount-Farming Route
Trying to farm all 22 mount goals independently wastes substantial time because many of their activities overlap.
A better weekly route is:
- Prioritize seasonal Rating. Work on Keystone Master, Keystone Legend and rated PvP before permanent outdoor collections.
- Prepare for Azta’rec. Build toward the Tier ?? solo Nemesis kill while Delve progression is current.
- Do raid objectives weekly. Progress Glory achievements while maintaining opportunities for Mythic Ula’tek.
- Run useful Delves. Build Delver’s Journey toward Rank 5 while gaining gear and other weekly rewards.
- Check the Gnarldor Isle Sturdy Chest. It is a quick attempt at Delver’s Arcane Golem whenever you are already running the Delve.
- Combine Prey objectives. Advance Preyhunter’s Journey while getting repeat Ral’kala attempts for Hexflame Reaver.
- Progress Zul’jarra’s Forces. One Renown track eventually opens three mount objectives.
- Combine Coiled Isle rares and treasures. Farm Ruby Writhe and Topaz Skyfang while completing Auriferous Venomfang criteria.
- Combine Vault activities. Farm Corrosive Coins, Temple Patrols and Assault the Vault requirements at the same time.

Primeval Skyfriend is tied to Mythic Ula’tek and should also be prioritized while current-tier groups can defeat the boss consistently, even though its long-term availability rules differ from pure rating achievements.
Mounts Not Included in the 22-Reward Gameplay List
Patch 12.1 also contains additional mount entries connected to the Battle.net Shop, Trading Post and unused or not-yet-assigned appearances.
Those are deliberately not mixed into this farming guide. A mount model appearing in game data does not automatically mean there is a live gameplay route for players to farm it.
Examples of separate categories include:
