You can also earn one bonus charge from Serpent Scion by reaching 2,000 Mythic+ rating, 1,600 rated PvP rating, or defeating Ula'tek on Heroic or Mythic. Once you have your class 4-piece, Catalyst Unbound lets additional Manaflux drop from eligible Season 2 activities. Those extra drops are RNG; Blizzard has not published an official percentage.
How to Get Venomblight Manaflux
There are three ways to add Catalyst charges to a character. Scheduled charges are automatic, Serpent Scion is a one-time seasonal reward, and Catalyst Unbound creates repeatable chances after you finish your 4-piece set.
1. Passive Catalyst charges
You receive one Manaflux when Season 2 begins and one more every two weeks. No weekly quest is required.
There is no normal Catalyst catch-up. Returning after several missed charge dates does not grant the entire backlog. This is especially relevant for alts you may want to play later in the season.
2. Serpent Scion — one bonus charge
Midnight Season 2: Serpent Scion rewards a Crystallized Venomblight Manaflux. Complete any one of these objectives on the character:
- Reach 2,000 Mythic+ rating.
- Reach 1,600 rating in rated PvP.
- Defeat Ula'tek in The Venomous Abyss on Heroic or Mythic difficulty.
You do not need all three objectives. Using the Crystallized Venomblight Manaflux adds one Catalyst charge.
3. Catalyst Unbound — repeatable RNG charges
Once the character activates its 4-piece class-set bonus, it earns Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound. From that point, additional Venomblight Manaflux can drop from:
- Mythic+ dungeons;
- Midnight Season 2 raid bosses;
- Bountiful Delves;
- rated PvP arenas and battlegrounds.
Catalyst Unbound is character-specific. Completing a 4-piece on your main does not unlock repeatable Manaflux drops for every alt.

There is no official fixed drop percentage for Catalyst Unbound. Blizzard describes the achievement as allowing Manaflux to drop from additional sources; it does not promise one charge per clear or publish a “1 in X runs” rate.

Manaflux not dropping? Check these five things
- Confirm Catalyst Unbound
The character itself needs the 4-piece class-set bonus and the Catalyst Unbound Feat of Strength.
- Use an eligible source
Run Mythic+, Season 2 raid bosses, Bountiful Delves, or rated PvP.
- Check the 8-charge cap
You cannot hold more than eight Manaflux charges on one character.
- Separate passive charges from drops
The two-week grant is a scheduled accrual and has nothing to do with an RNG reward after a dungeon.
- Do not assume a community drop-rate estimate is official
Very different streaks are possible because Blizzard has not published the chance.

Fastest Way to Get More Manaflux
The important breakpoint is the 4-piece. Before that point you cannot farm repeatable Catalyst Unbound drops, so the fastest progression route is to complete the set rather than blindly farming activities for Manaflux.
- Open the Great Vault before converting
Do not spend Manaflux on a slot the Vault is about to give you for free.
- Take direct tier drops first
Raid tier pieces activate the same set bonuses without spending Manaflux.
- Finish Serpent Scion
Use whichever route is closest: 2,000 M+ rating, 1,600 PvP, or Heroic/Mythic Ula'tek.
- Spend charges on 2-piece and 4-piece breakpoints
The best Catalyst conversion is usually the one that activates a set bonus immediately.
- Unlock Catalyst Unbound
Once the 4-piece activates, normal Season 2 content can start providing extra RNG charges.
- Avoid sitting at 8 charges
Spend useful charges before the cap prevents further accumulation.

How Catalyst Conversion Works
- Choose an eligible armor piece
PvE armor must normally be Veteran track or higher. Eligible Honor, Conquest and War Mode PvP armor can also be converted.
- Open the Catalyst
Drag the item into the interface or use the “+” button to see eligible equipment.
- Check the preview
Verify the resulting appearance, item level and stats.
- Confirm Transform
A normal Season 2 conversion costs one Venomblight Manaflux.
Important Midnight rule: catalyzed class-set armor keeps the original item's secondary stats, tertiary stats and eligible cantrip effects. The Catalyst does not replace them with a fixed tier-item stat profile.
Which Gear Can Be Catalyzed?

Only five slots activate set bonuses: head, shoulders, chest, hands and legs. Bracers, belts, boots and cloaks can be converted for the matching cosmetic appearance, but they do not count toward the 2-piece or 4-piece bonus.
When Should You Spend a Manaflux Charge?
- Spend for your 2-piece or 4-piece first.
- Open the Great Vault before making the conversion.
- Use the highest-value eligible base item in the missing slot.
- Do not waste early charges purely on cosmetic slots.
- Once you have three tier pieces, using a charge to complete the 4-piece is usually especially valuable because it also unlocks Catalyst Unbound.
