Venomblight Manaflux is the Season 2 Catalyst resource in World of Warcraft: Midnight. It is used at the Catalyst in Silvermoon City to convert eligible Season 2 gear into class-set pieces. The Catalyst remains the most reliable way to complete missing tier slots, while the Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound achievement expands the sources from which Manaflux can be earned after your character unlocks its class set bonuses.

What Is Venomblight Manaflux?
Venomblight Manaflux is the resource associated with the Season 2 Catalyst. You spend it through the Catalyst interface when transforming eligible non-tier equipment into a class-set item.
The item named Crystallized Venomblight Manaflux is a reward item that provides Catalyst progress. It is not the same thing as Season 1’s Dawnlight Manaflux, and Season 1 resources should not be treated as interchangeable with the Season 2 currency.
The exact live conversion rate between Crystallized Venomblight Manaflux and a full Catalyst charge has not yet been finalized in the current test information. The current PTR tooltip indicates that several Manaflux items may combine into a complete charge, so check the item tooltip and Catalyst interface after the live 12.1 update.

Where Is the Midnight Season 2 Catalyst?
The Season 2 Catalyst is located in Silvermoon City. Open the Catalyst interface, place an eligible Season 2 armor item in the slot, and select the class-set piece you want to create.
The Catalyst does not upgrade an item’s item level. It changes the item into the corresponding tier slot while preserving the relevant gear quality and upgrade-track context used by the system. The resulting item’s secondary-stat combination can differ from the original piece because tier armor uses the set’s predefined stat layout.
How Tier Conversion Works in Season 2
- Obtain an eligible Season 2 armor item.
- Travel to the Catalyst in Silvermoon City.
- Place the item into the Catalyst interface.
- Review the available class-set result and its item level.
- Confirm the conversion by spending the required Catalyst resource.
The conversion creates the tier piece for the same armor class and slot. A cloth item cannot produce a plate tier piece, and the Catalyst does not allow arbitrary armor-type or slot changes.
Which Slots Can Become Tier?
The Catalyst is intended for the class-set armor slots that carry tier bonuses. These normally include the head, shoulders, chest, hands and legs. The remaining armor slots do not become class-set pieces through ordinary Catalyst conversion unless Blizzard specifically adds them to the Season 2 set system.
Weapons, trinkets, rings, necklaces, cloaks and other non-tier equipment are not converted into class-set armor. Always inspect the Catalyst preview before spending Manaflux.
Which Gear Can Be Converted?
Eligible Season 2 equipment generally comes from the season’s end-game reward structures, including raid loot, Mythic+ rewards, Great Vault items and other gear that belongs to the current Season 2 item pool.
Not every item with a Season 2-level item level is automatically eligible. Quest rewards, special-effect items, crafted equipment, cosmetic items and gear from unrelated content can have different Catalyst rules. If an item cannot be placed in the Catalyst, do not assume that a later upgrade will make it eligible.
How to Earn Venomblight Manaflux
Venomblight Manaflux is tied to Season 2 end-game progression. The current Season 2 information identifies Mythic Keystone dungeons, the Temple of Ula’tek raid and Bountiful Delves among the activities associated with Catalyst charge acquisition. Rated PvP is also part of the broader end-game reward structure connected to Season 2 Catalyst progression.

Before the additional-source achievement is active, your character may have fewer repeatable ways to obtain Catalyst resources. The exact live schedule, drop rules and any weekly cap should be checked in the in-game tooltip once Season 2 begins.
Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound
Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound is the achievement associated with increasing the availability of Venomblight Manaflux. The achievement is designed around completing your class set and then earning additional Catalyst resources through regular Season 2 content.
The Season 1 version of this system unlocked extra Manaflux sources after acquiring the class-set bonuses. Season 2 follows the same broad progression model, but its achievement text describes Manaflux as dropping more frequently rather than simply being available from additional sources.
What Unlocks the Achievement?
The achievement is tied to unlocking your Season 2 class-set bonuses. The exact live requirement should be read as the in-game achievement specifies it, but the current system is built around completing the relevant set-bonus milestone rather than collecting random cosmetic appearances.
Once the achievement is active, the character can receive additional Catalyst-related rewards from eligible raid, Mythic+, Bountiful Delve and rated PvP activity. The achievement is a progression unlock, not a direct replacement for every normal Manaflux source.
Midnight Season 2: Serpent Scion Reward
The seasonal achievement Midnight Season 2: Serpent Scion is another important source of Crystallized Venomblight Manaflux. The achievement can be completed by reaching one of the major Season 2 progression milestones, such as the required Mythic+ rating, defeating Ula’tek on an eligible raid difficulty or reaching the required rated PvP rating.
The current PTR information shows that the reward provides three Venomblight Manaflux units. Because the Catalyst interface and tooltip have not yet fully settled, the number of complete Catalyst charges represented by that reward requires live confirmation.
This reward is particularly useful for players who focus on only one end-game activity. You do not need to complete every qualifying milestone if the final achievement keeps the current “complete one of the listed achievements” structure.
When Should You Spend a Catalyst Charge?
The best time to use Venomblight Manaflux depends on your current tier pieces, Great Vault options and class-set bonuses. A practical approach is to use the Catalyst on a slot that gives you a meaningful set-bonus breakpoint without replacing a stronger item you already need for your build.
- Check your current tier count. Identify whether the conversion gives you the two-piece or four-piece bonus.
- Compare the item with your next Great Vault choices. If a slot is likely to be replaced immediately, waiting can avoid a duplicate.
- Prefer a high-value tier slot. The correct priority differs by specialization, so use your class guide or current simulation data for the final decision.
- Keep upgrade tracks in mind. Converting a lower-quality item may complete your bonus but still leave you with a weaker long-term piece.
- Confirm the result before spending. The Catalyst preview shows the resulting set piece and relevant item information.
Two-Piece or Four-Piece First?
For most characters, completing the first useful set-bonus breakpoint is more important than converting a random slot purely to collect an appearance. However, the value of the two-piece and four-piece bonuses varies by specialization and can change with class tuning.
If you already have three tier pieces and one Catalyst charge, converting the missing fourth slot is usually the clearest use of the resource. If you have no tier pieces, compare your available items and Vault choices before converting four random slots.
How the Catalyst Interacts with the Great Vault
The Great Vault and the Catalyst solve different gearing problems. The Great Vault supplies a selection of weekly gear, while the Catalyst lets you target a class-set slot from an eligible item you already own.
Do not automatically convert every non-tier item as soon as you receive it. A Great Vault item may fill a slot that is more difficult for you to obtain, while another piece may be a better Catalyst candidate because it completes a set bonus or uses a higher upgrade track.
A sensible weekly check is:
- Review raid and Mythic+ drops obtained during the week.
- Open the Great Vault before converting gear if the reset has not yet occurred.
- Identify which tier slots you already own.
- Use the Catalyst only after accounting for likely duplicates.
Tier Conversion and Item Stats
Catalyst conversion changes the item into the class-set version for that slot. The set piece uses the tier item’s stat profile rather than necessarily keeping the exact secondary stats of the original item.
This matters when your specialization values a particular stat combination, when an item has a special effect, or when you are comparing a tier bonus against a non-tier item with unusually strong stats. The tier bonus is not automatically an upgrade for every slot in every situation, especially before reaching a useful set-bonus breakpoint.
For final optimization, compare the converted item with your current equipment using current Season 2 simulation data. Avoid relying on Season 1 rankings because class tuning, set bonuses and item budgets can change between seasons.
Common Venomblight Manaflux Mistakes
Confusing Manaflux with Season 1 Currency
Dawnlight Manaflux belongs to Midnight Season 1. Venomblight Manaflux belongs to Season 2. Treat them as separate seasonal resources unless the live interface explicitly states otherwise.
Spending Before Checking the Great Vault
Converting an item before opening the Great Vault can produce a duplicate tier slot. When possible, wait until your weekly Vault decision is complete.
Converting a Special Item
Some items with unusual effects or unique upgrade rules may not be valid Catalyst inputs. Never destroy or convert a special-effect item without checking whether your specialization depends on it.
Assuming Every Armor Slot Produces Tier
The Catalyst does not turn every armor piece into a class-set item. It is limited to the set’s eligible tier slots and compatible Season 2 equipment.
Ignoring the Four-Piece Unlock
The Season 2 Catalyst achievement is connected to unlocking your class-set bonuses. Completing the set can therefore affect your future Manaflux opportunities, not just your current statistics.
A Practical Season 2 Catalyst Plan
- Collect eligible Season 2 gear from the content you already play.
- Use the first pieces that naturally complete a useful tier breakpoint.
- Check the Great Vault before spending a Catalyst charge each week.
- Work toward the four-piece class-set milestone.
- After unlocking the additional-source achievement, continue earning Manaflux through raid, Mythic+, Bountiful Delves and other qualifying Season 2 activities.
- Save charges for high-quality items when a lower-quality conversion would be replaced quickly.
This approach keeps your tier progress moving without treating every Catalyst charge as an emergency purchase. The safest launch strategy is to prioritize set-bonus breakpoints, avoid duplicate slots and verify the final live currency rules in the Catalyst interface.
