The Great Vault in WoW Midnight Season 2 gives your character one weekly reward chosen from up to nine options earned through Raid, Dungeons and World activities. The more qualifying content you complete during the weekly reset, the more choices appear in your next Vault — but you still select only one final reward per character.
Season 2 is fully live with The Venomous Abyss, Mythic+, Bountiful Delves, Nightmare Prey and the updated Patch 12.1 reward system. Raid Vault rewards received a major upgrade this season, Mythic+ reaches its maximum standard Vault reward at +10, and Tier 8 Delves already provide the highest regular Delve-based World reward.
If you are planning your complete gearing route rather than only the weekly chest, use our Midnight Season 2 Gearing Guide together with the Season 2 Weekly Checklist.
Midnight Season 2 Great Vault at a Glance
| Great Vault Row | First Choice | Second Choice | Third Choice | Maximum Standard Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raid | Defeat 2 bosses | Defeat 4 bosses | Defeat 6 bosses | Myth 6/6 from standard Mythic; selected Mythic raid items reach 344 |
| Dungeons | Complete 1 dungeon | Complete 4 dungeons | Complete 8 dungeons | 318 Myth 1/6 from +10 or higher |
| World | Complete 2 activities | Complete 4 activities | Complete 8 activities | 305 Hero 1/6 from Tier 8+ Delves or Nightmare Prey |
Unlocking all nine slots gives you nine possible rewards to compare. It does not let you claim nine items. Raid, Dungeon and World objectives all feed the same weekly Great Vault selection.
Fast answer: for maximum standard rewards, target your highest practical raid difficulty, complete +10 or higher Mythic+ keys, and use Tier 8 or higher Delves for the World row.
Where Is the Great Vault in Midnight?
The main Great Vault is located inside the bank in the neutral section of Silvermoon City.
- Neutral Great Vault: /way 2393 50.2 66.2
- Horde bank Great Vault: /way 2393 71.8 65.1
You can check your current Great Vault progress without visiting the bank. Open the Adventure Guide, select the Journeys tab and use the Great Vault button to inspect your unlocked objectives. You still need to visit the Vault itself after reset to generate and claim the weekly reward.
Raid Great Vault Rewards in Midnight Season 2
The Raid row is filled by defeating qualifying current-season raid or Lair bosses. The main Season 2 progression raid is The Venomous Abyss, an eight-boss raid culminating in Ula'tek.
For the complete encounter order, difficulties and reward structure, see our Venomous Abyss Raid Guide. Players looking for organized current-season raid services can also compare all WoW Raid Boosts.
Raid Great Vault Thresholds
| Qualifying Raid Progress | Vault Result |
|---|---|
| Defeat 2 current-season bosses | Unlock 1 Raid choice |
| Defeat 4 current-season bosses | Unlock 2 Raid choices |
| Defeat 6 current-season bosses | Unlock all 3 Raid choices |
You do not need all eight Venomous Abyss bosses to unlock the maximum number of Raid choices. Six qualifying kills are enough for all three Raid slots.
Season 2 Raid Great Vault Item Levels
Patch 12.1 significantly increased the value of Raid Great Vault rewards. Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic Vault items now begin on the first rank of the next upgrade track, while standard Mythic Vault gear is awarded at the top of the normal Myth track.
| Completed Difficulty | Great Vault Reward | Item Level |
|---|---|---|
| Raid Finder | Champion 1/6 | 292 |
| Normal | Hero 1/6 | 305 |
| Heroic | Myth 1/6 | 318 |
| Mythic | Myth 6/6 | 334 |
| Eligible Very Rare items and Mythic loot from the final two bosses | Myth 9-equivalent | 344 |
This makes Heroic raiding particularly valuable in Season 2: a qualifying Heroic Raid Vault choice starts at 318 Myth 1/6, even though direct Heroic Venomous Abyss boss loot is on the Hero track.
If you are using the raid primarily to improve multiple equipment slots, compare the Raid Full Gear Boost. If your main target is the current class-set bonus, the more focused WoW Tier Set Boost is the relevant gearing route.
How Mixed Raid Difficulties Affect the Great Vault
Each Raid threshold is evaluated separately. For example, suppose you complete eight bosses on Normal but only five on Heroic:
- your first Raid choice can use Heroic reward quality because you completed at least two Heroic bosses;
- your second can also use Heroic reward quality because you completed at least four Heroic bosses;
- your third remains based on Normal because you did not reach six qualifying Heroic kills.
This is why the efficient approach is to complete as much of your highest realistic difficulty as possible before filling remaining thresholds with lower-difficulty kills.
Which Raid Items Can Appear in the Great Vault?
Raid Vault rewards are drawn from the relevant current-season raid loot pool. Defeating later bosses can expand the eligible pool to include loot associated with that boss and earlier encounters in the raid order.
The Venomous Abyss contains weapons, trinkets, armor, Tier Set tokens and specialized final-boss rewards. Use our Venomous Abyss Loot Table to compare individual boss drops before deciding which raid progress is most useful for your character.

The Dungeons row uses Heroic, Mythic, Timewalking and Mythic+ dungeon completions. For Mythic+, the three reward levels are determined by your highest, fourth-highest and eighth-highest completed keys during the week.
| Dungeon Objective | Reward Is Based On |
|---|---|
| Complete 1 dungeon | Your highest completed Mythic+ key |
| Complete 4 dungeons | Your fourth-highest completed Mythic+ key |
| Complete 8 dungeons | Your eighth-highest completed Mythic+ key |
The order in which the keys were completed does not matter. The game evaluates your completed runs from highest to lowest.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Great Vault Table
| Keystone Level | End-of-Dungeon Reward | Great Vault Reward | Relevant Mistcrest |
|---|---|---|---|
| +2 to +3 | 295 Champion 2/6 | 305 Hero 1/6 | Champion Mistcrest |
| +4 | 298 Champion 3/6 | 308 Hero 2/6 | Hero Mistcrest |
| +5 | 302 Champion 4/6 | 308 Hero 2/6 | Hero Mistcrest |
| +6 | 305 Hero 1/6 | 311 Hero 3/6 | Hero Mistcrest |
| +7 | 305 Hero 1/6 | 315 Hero 4/6 | Hero Mistcrest |
| +8 | 308 Hero 2/6 | 315 Hero 4/6 | Hero Mistcrest |
| +9 | 308 Hero 2/6 | 315 Hero 4/6 | Myth Mistcrest |
| +10 | 311 Hero 3/6 | 318 Myth 1/6 | Myth Mistcrest |
| +11 | 311 Hero 3/6 | 318 Myth 1/6 | Myth Mistcrest |
| +12 and higher | 311 Hero 3/6 | 318 Myth 1/6 | Myth Mistcrest |
+10 is the main gearing breakpoint. It gives the highest standard end-of-dungeon item level and the highest standard Mythic+ Great Vault reward. Keys above +10 remain valuable for rating, achievements and high-key progression, but they do not raise the ordinary weekly Vault item above 318 Myth 1/6.
For the complete key-by-key gearing table, use our updated Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Loot Table.
Example: How the 1 / 4 / 8 Mythic+ System Works
Suppose your eight highest completed keys are:
+10, +10, +9, +9, +8, +8, +7, +6
- First Dungeon choice: based on +10 — 318 Myth 1/6.
- Second Dungeon choice: based on the fourth-highest key, +9 — 315 Hero 4/6.
- Third Dungeon choice: based on the eighth-highest key, +6 — 311 Hero 3/6.
If you later complete another +10, the additional run can push one of the weaker keys out of your top eight and improve a lower Vault threshold. Completing low keys after stronger results are already secured cannot reduce the reward levels you have earned.
Delve and World Great Vault Rewards
The World row covers Delves, Prey, zone events, weekly quests and assignments. Ordinary zone events, weekly quests and assignments generally count at the same reward level as a Tier 1 Delve or Normal Prey, so higher-tier Delves and higher-difficulty Prey are the main ways to improve World-row item quality.
| World Objective | Vault Result |
|---|---|
| Complete 2 qualifying World activities | Unlock 1 World choice |
| Complete 4 qualifying World activities | Unlock 2 World choices |
| Complete 8 qualifying World activities | Unlock all 3 World choices |
Midnight Season 2 Delve Great Vault Item Levels
| Delve Tier | Standard Bountiful Reward | Great Vault Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 266 Adventurer 1/6 | 279 Veteran 1/6 |
| Tier 2 | 269 Adventurer 2/6 | 282 Veteran 2/6 |
| Tier 3 | 272 Adventurer 3/6 | 285 Veteran 3/6 |
| Tier 4 | 276 Adventurer 4/6 | 289 Veteran 4/6 |
| Tier 5 | 279 Veteran 1/6 | 292 Champion 1/6 |
| Tier 6 | 282 Veteran 2/6 | 298 Champion 3/6 |
| Tier 7 | 292 Champion 1/6 | 302 Champion 4/6 |
| Tier 8 | 295 Champion 2/6 | 305 Hero 1/6 |
| Tier 9–11 | 295 Champion 2/6 standard reward | 305 Hero 1/6 |
Tier 8 is the important Great Vault breakpoint. Tiers 9–11 can provide additional high-end Delve progression, stronger crest opportunities and seasonal rewards, but they do not raise the regular Delve Great Vault item above 305 Hero 1/6.
See the complete Midnight Season 2 Delve Loot Table for Bountiful rewards, Trovehunter's Bounty values and recommended progression tiers. You can also review the Patch 12.1 New Delves Guide for Ring of Glory, Gnarldor Isle and Venomfall Deeps.
Prey Great Vault Rewards
Prey also contributes to the World row and provides a straightforward difficulty-based reward structure.
| Prey Difficulty | Regular Reward | Great Vault Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 266 Adventurer 1/6 | 279 Veteran 1/6 |
| Hard | 279 Veteran 1/6 | 292 Champion 1/6 |
| Nightmare | 292 Champion 1/6 | 305 Hero 1/6 |
Nightmare Prey therefore reaches the same regular World-row ceiling as Tier 8+ Delves: 305 Hero 1/6.
Can Great Vault Rewards Be Tier Set Pieces?
Yes. An unlocked Great Vault gear slot can roll a Tier Set piece, including Dungeon and World choices. You do not have to receive your Tier Set exclusively from raid-token drops.
This makes the Vault particularly valuable when your character is one piece away from a 2-piece or 4-piece class bonus. Before claiming a marginal weapon or armor upgrade, check whether another Vault option completes an important Tier breakpoint.
For current set bonuses and class-specific information, see our Midnight Season 2 Tier Sets Guide. If your primary objective is completing the set itself, compare the WoW Tier Set Boost.
The Midnight Season 2 Catalyst Guide is also important before choosing your Vault reward because an eligible non-set armor piece may be convertible into the Tier slot you need.
Nebulous Voidcore Bonus Rolls from the Great Vault
Midnight Season 2 adds a particularly valuable alternative to taking ordinary Vault gear: the Nebulous Voidcore.
A Nebulous Voidcore becomes available as a Great Vault alternative after you have unlocked at least three reward choices during the week. Those three choices can come from any combination of Raid, Dungeons and World objectives.
The Voidcore lets you make an additional loot roll after eligible end-game activities such as:
- current-season Raid or Lair bosses;
- Mythic+ dungeons;
- Bountiful Delves; and
- eligible Prey Hunts.
In Season 2, raid bonus loot costs one Nebulous Voidcore. The power of an item obtained through the bonus-roll system is aligned with the equivalent Great Vault reward for that content. For example, an eligible Heroic raid bonus roll can produce Myth 1/6-level loot under the Season 2 reward rules.
Important: choosing a Nebulous Voidcore replaces your normal weekly Great Vault selection. You do not receive both the Voidcore and one of the displayed gear items.
Thalassian Token of Merit in Season 2
If none of your gear options is worth taking, you can instead choose Thalassian Tokens of Merit.
| Great Vault Choices Unlocked | Tokens of Merit |
|---|---|
| 1 choice | 2 Tokens |
| 2 choices | 4 Tokens |
| 3 or more choices | 6 Tokens |
Thalassian Tokens are physical items rather than a normal currency entry and are Unique (12), so check your bag capacity before claiming them.
Vaultkeeper Elysa stands beside the neutral Great Vault in Silvermoon and exchanges the Tokens for several useful alternatives.
| Reward | Cost | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Triumphant Satchel of Champion Mistcrests | 1 Token | Contains 10 Champion Mistcrests |
| Celebratory Pack of Hero Mistcrests | 2 Tokens | Contains 10 Hero Mistcrests |
| Chest of Gold | 2 Tokens | Contains 1,000 gold |
| Miasmic Jewelbinder | 6 Tokens | Adds a socket to an eligible Midnight Season 2 Helm, Bracer or Belt |
| Spark of Tides | 6 Tokens | Season 2 crafting reagent for high-end crafted equipment |
A socket from the Miasmic Jewelbinder can be much more valuable than taking a temporary Vault item, especially when the target Helm, Bracer or Belt is already a long-term piece. Conversely, do not spend six Tokens adding a socket to gear you expect to replace immediately.
Raid vs Mythic+ vs Delves: Which Great Vault Row Is Best?
There is no single best row for every character because each category has a different loot pool and progression ceiling.
| Activity | Best Great Vault Use | Season 2 Strength |
|---|---|---|
| Raid | Tier pieces, raid weapons, boss-specific trinkets and raid-exclusive items | Heroic already gives Myth 1/6 Vault gear; Mythic reaches the highest raid rewards |
| Mythic+ | Repeatable dungeon gearing and broad slot coverage | +10 gives 318 Myth 1/6 and can be repeated to improve all three choices |
| Delves / World | Solo-friendly weekly gearing and additional Tier Set chances | Tier 8+ or Nightmare Prey reaches 305 Hero 1/6 |
For many characters, the strongest strategy is not to fill all nine options at any cost. Instead, maximize the rows that contain upgrades you actually want and stop when additional activities no longer meaningfully improve your selection.
Best Great Vault Strategy for Midnight Season 2
- Check your Tier Set progress first. A 2-piece or 4-piece breakpoint can outweigh a small raw item-level gain.
- Complete your highest-value Raid difficulty. Heroic is particularly rewarding because its Vault items start at Myth 1/6.
- Use +10 as the Mythic+ gearing target. It reaches both the maximum standard end-of-run reward and the maximum standard Dungeon Vault reward.
- Use Tier 8 for Delve Vault efficiency. Higher tiers remain useful for other progression but do not raise the regular World Vault ceiling.
- Improve the fourth and eighth Mythic+ runs deliberately. One very high key does not maximize all three Dungeon choices.
- Review your Catalyst options before claiming armor. A convertible piece can change which Vault item is actually best.
- Compare the upgrade track, not only current item level. A Myth item with a higher upgrade ceiling can be more valuable than a temporary higher-rank Hero piece.
- Consider a Nebulous Voidcore when the entire Vault is weak. A targeted bonus-roll opportunity can have more expected value than a minor sidegrade.
- Use Tokens of Merit deliberately. A permanent socket on a long-term piece can outperform a disposable weekly reward.
Common Great Vault Mistakes
- Thinking nine slots mean nine rewards. You still claim only one weekly reward.
- Doing one +10 and seven low keys. Only your first Dungeon choice will be based on +10; the fourth and eighth highest completions determine the other two.
- Running Delves above Tier 8 only for a higher Vault item. The normal Delve Vault reward caps at 305 Hero 1/6 from Tier 8 onward.
- Ignoring raid difficulty thresholds. Five Heroic bosses are not enough to make the third Raid choice Heroic-quality; that threshold requires six.
- Taking a minor upgrade before checking Tier Set progress. Any earned Vault gear slot can potentially solve a missing class-set breakpoint.
- Confusing direct loot with weekly Vault loot. Season 2 Raid and Mythic+ Vault rewards can be substantially stronger than the items dropped directly by the activity.
- Using Tokens of Merit on temporary gear. Save expensive socket upgrades for equipment that is likely to remain equipped.
- Forgetting that a Voidcore replaces the weekly item. It is an alternative selection, not an additional tenth reward.
Season 2 Great Vault Weekly Checklist
- Check last week's Vault before spending Catalyst charges or important upgrade currencies.
- Defeat 2, 4 or 6 qualifying Raid/Lair bosses depending on how many Raid choices you need.
- Prioritize the highest Raid difficulty you can complete consistently.
- Complete 1, 4 or 8 dungeons for the Dungeon row.
- Target +10 or higher when maximum standard Mythic+ Vault quality matters.
- Complete 2, 4 or 8 World activities for the World row.
- Use Tier 8+ Delves or Nightmare Prey when targeting the 305 Hero 1/6 World ceiling.
- Check whether any Vault choice activates your 2-piece or 4-piece Tier Set bonus.
- Compare every gear option against a Nebulous Voidcore or Tokens of Merit before claiming.
