Pre-release note: This guide is based on the current Patch 12.1 PTR and official pre-release information. Requirements, rewards and numerical values may change before launch.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ introduces a new eight-dungeon rotation built around the previously unused Midnight dungeons, the new three-boss Altar of Fangs, and three returning dungeons from earlier expansions. The season begins one week after the launch of the Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek content update. The exact Patch 12.1 release date and final live tuning have not yet been announced.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Rotation at a Glance
| Dungeon | Expansion | Season 2 status |
|---|---|---|
| Altar of Fangs | Midnight | New Patch 12.1 dungeon |
| Murder Row | Midnight | Returning Midnight dungeon |
| Den of Nalorakk | Midnight | Returning Midnight dungeon |

| King’s Rest | Battle for Azeroth | Legacy dungeon |
| Ruby Life Pools | Dragonflight | Legacy dungeon |
| Temple of Sethraliss | Battle for Azeroth | Legacy dungeon |
Season 2 therefore contains five Midnight dungeons and three legacy dungeons. The four Midnight dungeons absent from the Season 1 Mythic+ pool are joined by Altar of Fangs, while King’s Rest, Ruby Life Pools, and Temple of Sethraliss provide the returning expansion dungeons.
When Does Midnight Season 2 Begin?
Midnight Season 2 begins one week after Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek launches. Altar of Fangs is available up to Heroic difficulty when the content update first becomes available, but its Mythic and Mythic+ versions join the rotation with the start of Season 2.
As of July 17, 2026, Blizzard has announced the Season 2 structure but has not published a final Patch 12.1 release date. The following milestones are confirmed:
| Milestone | Status |
|---|---|
| Patch 12.1 launches | Release date not yet announced |
| Altar of Fangs on Heroic | Available with the content update |
| Midnight Season 2 begins | One week after Patch 12.1 launches |

What Is New in the Season 2 Dungeon Pool?
Altar of Fangs
Altar of Fangs is a new three-boss dungeon located on the Coiled Isle. The dungeon is tied to the story of Ula’tek, Zul’jan, and the ancient Amani seal protecting the Vaults of Atal’Utek. The dungeon is available on Heroic difficulty with Patch 12.1 and becomes part of Mythic+ one week later.
The current Dungeon Journal preview identifies three encounters:
- Rav’i
- The Writhing Coil
- Zul’jan
Use the Heroic version to learn the layout and encounter flow before pushing keys. The final Mythic+ mechanics, tuning, enemy forces requirements, route details, and affix interactions require confirmation from the live dungeon.
Murder Row
Murder Row is one of the Midnight dungeons excluded from the Season 1 Mythic+ pool. Its inclusion gives Season 2 a fully new Midnight key for players who did not encounter it in the first seasonal rotation.
Players should treat Murder Row as a fresh seasonal dungeon rather than relying on Season 1 routing habits. Enemy abilities, cast times, dangerous trash combinations, and boss timings should be checked in the live Dungeon Journal after the season begins.
Den of Nalorakk
Den of Nalorakk returns to Mythic+ in Season 2 after being left out of the Season 1 rotation. The dungeon is part of the Midnight group of seasonal instances and is expected to be relevant for both seasonal rating and dungeon-specific achievements.
Because the dungeon has not been part of the current Mythic+ season, players should revisit its boss journal, trash abilities, and required utility before entering higher keys.
The Blinding Vale
The Blinding Vale is another Midnight dungeon returning to the seasonal pool. Blizzard’s official rotation announcement uses the name “The Blinding Vale,” while some early references may shorten the name to “Blinding Vale.” Use the full Dungeon Journal name when searching for the instance in-game.
Voidscar Arena
Voidscar Arena completes the group of four Midnight dungeons that were not included in Season 1. Its return gives Season 2 a stronger Voidstorm identity and adds another new-to-the-season dungeon that players must learn before attempting high keys.
Which Legacy Dungeons Return in Season 2?
King’s Rest
King’s Rest returns from Battle for Azeroth. The dungeon is known for its Amani setting and multi-boss progression, but its Season 2 Mythic+ version should be treated as a current-season adaptation rather than an unchanged copy of its original expansion form.
Ruby Life Pools
Ruby Life Pools returns from Dragonflight. Its compact layout and dragon-themed encounters make it the only Dragonflight dungeon in the announced Season 2 rotation.
Temple of Sethraliss
Temple of Sethraliss returns from Battle for Azeroth. Players familiar with the original dungeon should still review the current Dungeon Journal, because legacy dungeons can receive changes to mechanics, enemy abilities, layouts, and tuning when they enter a new Mythic+ season.
Mythic+ System Changes in Midnight Season 2
Lindormi’s Guidance at Mythic+ Levels 2–5
Midnight introduces Lindormi’s Guidance for Mythic+ levels 2 through 5. While the affix is active, selected non-boss enemies receive Temporal Sands. These enemies are visually marked, deal reduced damage, and have reduced health.
Defeating the marked enemies provides the required enemy forces for the dungeon, creating a straightforward route through the instance. Lindormi’s Guidance also prevents player deaths from reducing the Mythic+ timer.
This affix is designed to make the entry levels more approachable while players learn the eight-dungeon rotation. It does not replace the need to understand boss mechanics, interrupt dangerous casts, or manage the dungeon timer.
Xal’atath’s Bargain Moves to a Higher Level
Xal’atath’s Bargain affixes move one level deeper into the Mythic+ progression system, from Mythic+ level 4 to Mythic+ level 5. Lower keys therefore provide a longer introductory period before the rotating seasonal challenge begins.
The individual Bargain effects and their final rotation require confirmation from the live Season 2 affix schedule. Check the current Mythic+ interface before planning a weekly route.
Dungeon Titles for Weekly High Keys
Midnight adds dungeon titles for players who complete the highest keystone levels available to them each week. The title system is separate from the regular dungeon pool and does not change which instances appear in the rotation.
Blizzard has not yet published every final title requirement or the full title list. Do not assume that a specific key level, rating threshold, or title name is final until it appears in the live achievement interface.
New Seasonal Affixes
Season 2 also adds new affixes and introduces new seasonal dungeon challenges. The official Season 2 announcement confirms the affix update, but the complete live rotation, exact effects, and level placement for every new affix require final verification.
For launch preparation, learn the base mechanics of every dungeon first. Affixes change the pressure applied to a run, but they do not replace the core requirements of interrupts, dispels, defensive cooldowns, positioning, and enemy-force control.
How the Season 2 Rotation Changes Mythic+ Preparation
Learn Five New or Reintroduced Dungeons
Players who completed Season 1 will not automatically be prepared for Season 2. Altar of Fangs, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale, and Voidscar Arena all require focused preparation because they were not part of the Season 1 Mythic+ rotation.
- Complete each dungeon on Heroic or Mythic difficulty when available.
- Read the Dungeon Journal for every boss and important trash enemy.
- Record dangerous casts that require interrupts or crowd control.
- Practice positioning before entering higher keys.
- Update dungeon-specific notes after live tuning changes.
Relearn the Legacy Dungeons
King’s Rest, Ruby Life Pools, and Temple of Sethraliss may be familiar to returning players, but old memories are not a substitute for current information. Blizzard can modify legacy encounters when they are added to a new Mythic+ pool.
Review the current enemy abilities, boss phases, route requirements, and dungeon timer before assuming that an old guide remains accurate.
Prepare for a New Entry-Level Experience
Lindormi’s Guidance changes the early Mythic+ learning process. Levels 2 through 5 provide a more structured environment in which marked enemies identify a basic route and player deaths do not reduce the timer while the affix is active.
A practical starting order is to use the lower levels to learn boss mechanics and utility requirements, then move into higher keys after each dungeon’s route is familiar. This is preparation advice rather than a claim about the fastest rating or gearing path.
Mythic+ Rewards, Rating, and Seasonal Achievements
Season 2 uses a new seasonal reward environment alongside the Venomous Abyss raid, new Delves, and updated PvP rewards. Mythic+ remains a source of end-of-run equipment, Great Vault progress, seasonal rating, dungeon achievements, and high-level cosmetic rewards.
The exact live item levels, crest quantities, achievement thresholds, and end-of-run reward tracks require confirmation once Blizzard publishes the final Season 2 reward table. Avoid using Season 1 values for Season 2 planning.
Seasonal Rating Rewards
Midnight Season 2 includes new Mythic+ rating achievements and skyfang wind serpent rewards. Current seasonal information identifies rating milestones at 2,000 and 3,000, but the final achievement names, mount names, and complete reward conditions should be checked in the live achievement panel.
Rating is earned by completing dungeons across the seasonal rotation. Players pursuing the highest rewards should plan to complete all eight dungeons rather than specializing in only one or two instances.
Great Vault Planning
Mythic+ runs contribute to the Mythic+ section of the Great Vault. The most useful weekly approach depends on the final reward thresholds and the player’s available time, so do not treat a single dungeon level as universally optimal before the live reward table is confirmed.
When Season 2 begins, check the Great Vault interface after completing the first weekly runs. It will show the actual activity requirements and the item-level range available for each completed slot.
How Altar of Fangs Fits into Season 2
Altar of Fangs is both the story dungeon of the Curse of Ula’tek update and one of the eight seasonal Mythic+ instances. Players can experience its Heroic version with the content update, then continue into Mythic and Mythic+ when Season 2 begins.
The dungeon is not a separate mega-dungeon wing or raid encounter. It is a three-boss dungeon included directly in the regular Mythic+ rotation. Its seasonal importance comes from its place in rating, the Great Vault, dungeon achievements, and the overall eight-dungeon completion requirement.
Recommended Season 2 Preparation Checklist
- Finish the Midnight campaign content required to access Patch 12.1 activities.
- Complete the introductory Coiled Isle content so Altar of Fangs and related activities are available.
- Run Altar of Fangs on Heroic when the dungeon opens.
- Review the Dungeon Journal for all eight Season 2 dungeons.
- Update addons, interface profiles, and cooldown tracking before the season starts.
- Prepare interrupt, dispel, defensive, and crowd-control assignments for your specialization.
- Keep a flexible Mythic+ character setup for both single-target bosses and area damage.
- Check the live affix schedule before choosing which keys to prioritize.
- Do not rely on Season 1 routes, old timers, or outdated legacy-dungeon guides.
- Verify Great Vault and rating requirements in-game after the first weekly reset.
Common Season 2 Mistakes to Avoid
- Entering high keys without learning the four returning Midnight dungeons: Season 1 experience does not cover the complete Season 2 pool.
- Assuming legacy mechanics are unchanged: King’s Rest, Ruby Life Pools, and Temple of Sethraliss may use updated Mythic+ versions.
- Ignoring Lindormi’s Guidance: Marked enemies are part of the intended early-key route and should not be skipped without understanding the enemy-forces consequences.
- Using Season 1 reward tables: Season 2 has its own progression and reward structure.
- Planning around an unconfirmed release date: Season 2 begins one week after Patch 12.1, but the Patch 12.1 launch date has not yet been announced.
- Treating PTR tuning as final: Exact enemy health, damage, timers, rewards, and affix values require live confirmation.
