WotLK Enchanting 1-450 Guide
Enchanting Upgrade in WoW Classic WotLK, ExpCarry Guide
Enchanting is one of the popular professions in WotLK Classic, allowing you to create items to enhance your gear and transform unwanted equipment into crafting materials. In this guide, we will provide you with tips on leveling up your enchanting skill in the WoW Wrath of the Lich King expansion. We'll cover the locations of profession trainers, highlight its unique features, and much more.
General Information about the Profession
After learning enchanting, players gain access to a new ability called Disenchanting. This skill allows you to convert low-quality/low-level gear into materials for enchanting. These materials can be used to advance your profession and craft enchantments, or sold on the auction house for a tidy profit.
Here are some key features of enchanting:
- Maximum profession level is 450. A high-level Enchanter's Rod can be used to create lower-level enchantments. This means that once you reach a skill level of 450, you can craft a high-level rod and use it to enchant items with any enchantment.
- Enchanters have access to several unique enchants for their own rings. These enchantments cannot be transferred to other players. The available ring enchants include: Spellpower II, Striking I, and Stamina III.
- The gear you can disenchant with the Disenchanting skill depends on your profession level.
- Enchanting is listed among the most profitable professions.
- In WotLK Classic, enchanters can use Enchanting Vellums to convert their enchants into consumable items and sell them on the auction house.
Learning Enchanting in WoW WotLK: Skill Levels and Trainers
Enchanting has several skill level stages:
Apprentice and Journeyman: You can learn basic enchanting skills from any profession trainer in the capital cities of your faction. When you reach a major city, speak to a city guard and ask them to show you the location of the desired trainer. For enchanting, choose the dialogue options "Profession Trainer" -> "Enchanting." A map marker will appear, indicating the location of the trainer you seek.
Expert: To level your enchanting skill beyond 300, you'll need to visit an enchanting trainer in Outland. You can develop your profession up to 375 with the following NPCs:
- Johann Barnes – Honor Hold in Hellfire Peninsula (Alliance only)
- Felannia - Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula (Horde only)
- Azarnan - Stormspire in Netherstorm (accessible to both factions)
Artisan: To level your profession from 375 to 450, head to Northrend and speak with one of the Grand Masters enchanting trainers. Below are the locations of these NPCs:
Alliance:
- Alexis Marlowe – Valiance Keep in Borean Tundra
- Elizabeth Jackson - Valgarde in Howling Fjord
Horde:
- Eorain Dawnstrike - Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra
- Emil Autumn – Vengeance Landing in Howling Fjord
Neutral:
- Enchanter Nalthanis - Dalaran
Fayle Morninglight - Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown
Please note that Fayle Morninglight is not available until later phases of the expansion.
Disenchanting Items in Wrath of the Lich King
Enchanters can use the Disenchanting skill to convert most green, blue, and purple quality gear into materials. This ability can be found in your spellbook.
Disenchanted items break down into various types of materials, each used for crafting different enchantments:
- Essences
- Shards
- Dust
- Crystals
The type and quantity of materials obtained from disenchanting depend on the level of the disenchanted gear. For example, green quality armor will often yield dust, while green weapons will yield essences. Blue armor and weapons will typically yield shards, and purple equipment will yield crystals. Rarely, high-level blue armor/weapons can also yield crystals.
It's worth noting that there is some equipment in the game that cannot be disenchanted.
Disenchanting Requirements:
To convert gear into materials for enchanting, you must level up your enchanting profession to a specific skill level corresponding to the item's level requirement. This means you won't be able to disenchant high-level gear if your profession is still in its early or intermediate stages of development.

The Benefits of Using Enchanting Scrolls in World of Warcraft
Enchanting scrolls created through the Inscription profession can be used to convert enchantments into consumable items that can be sold at the auction house or stored in your bank or guild vault. Scrolls effectively eliminate the need for players to stand in a city and offer enchanting services. Now, you can transfer enchantments onto scrolls and leave them at the auction house.
There are several types of scrolls in the game:
- Armor Vellum and Weapon Vellum: Used to convert enchantments from Classic WoW into consumable items.
- Armor Vellum II and Weapon Vellum II: Used to convert enchantments from The Burning Crusade expansion into consumable items.
- Armor Vellum III and Weapon Vellum III: Used to convert enchantments from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion into consumable items.
The difference between them lies in the fact that each type of scroll is designed for specific enchantment levels. For example, you cannot transfer Classic WoW enchantments onto Armor Vellum II or Weapon Vellum III. However, you can transfer enchantments from WotLK and TBC onto Armor Vellum and Weapon Vellum. In other words, higher-level scrolls can be used to preserve lower-level enchantments.
