General Information about Fishing as a Profession

As mentioned earlier, fishing is one of the secondary professions available to players, and anyone can learn it. You can become a skilled angler without sacrificing other essential crafting professions such as Alchemy, Herbalism, Mining, and more.

Fishing pairs exceptionally well with another secondary profession, Cooking, since almost all the fish you catch can be used to prepare delicious meals. This means you can provide yourself with free food at different stages of your hero's development and level up both you're fishing and cooking skills simultaneously.

Learning Fishing in WoW WotLK – Skill Levels and Trainers

Fishing has several skill levels:

Apprentice and Journeyman: You can learn the basics of fishing from any fishing trainer in the capital cities of your faction. Once you reach a major city, speak to a city guard and ask them to direct you to the fishing trainer. Choose the dialogue options "Profession Trainer" -> "Fishing" to initiate the conversation. Afterward, a marker will appear on your map, indicating the location of the desired trainer.

Expert: To level up your fishing skill beyond 300, you need to seek out a fishing trainer in Outland or Northrend.

Artisan: To advance your profession from 375 to 450, venture into Northrend and speak with one of the Grand Master Fishing trainers. You can find the details of these NPCs listed below.

Fishing Leveling in WotLK Classic

Fishing is a relatively straightforward profession to level up, although it does require a significant time investment. We recommend leveling fishing alongside cooking since most of the fish you catch can be used for cooking, helping you improve your cooking skill.

In Wrath of the Lich King, you can increase your fishing mastery in any body of water where fishing is allowed. This allows you to level your fishing skill up to 300 without leaving your faction's capital city.

When your fishing skill reaches 300, head to Outland and speak with Juno Dufrain in Zangarmarsh to enhance your angling abilities. Alternatively, you can visit one of the Grand Master Fishing trainers in Northrend, as mentioned earlier.

Once your fishing skill reaches 400, make your way to Northrend and continue fishing there until you reach the maximum skill level of 450. If you wish, you can stay in Outland until reaching a fishing skill level of 375, but eventually, you will still need to travel to Northrend.

Devices to Enhance Fishing Skill in WoW WotLK

The Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole is a decent alternative and much easier to obtain by simply gaining reputation with the Kalu'ak walrus faction in Northrend. It's worth noting that reputation with this faction can be quickly earned without any difficulties.

• Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole: +20 fishing skill. Reward for completing the quest "Gone Fishing."
