How to Earn Ahead of the Curve: Ula’tek
To earn Ahead of the Curve: Ula’tek, defeat Ula’tek on Heroic difficulty or higher while the achievement is still active. You do not need to defeat every boss in The Venomous Abyss on Heroic for the achievement. The requirement is the qualifying kill on Ula’tek.
You can complete the encounter with a guild group, a community raid, or a manually assembled group. The achievement is awarded to eligible players who are present for the qualifying boss defeat. As with other raid achievements, make sure you remain in the encounter area until the boss dies and the achievement is credited.
Does AotC require a full Heroic clear?

Mythic raiding normally requires a stable roster, consistent attendance and a progression plan. Unlike Heroic, Mythic groups are limited to the Mythic raid format, and the encounter must be defeated under Mythic rules. The achievement is earned by the players who are present for the qualifying kill.
Does Cutting Edge require 8/8 Mythic?

Blizzard does not define AotC or CE by a universal character item-level requirement. Raid leaders and guilds may set their own gear, experience, class and attendance standards, but those are group-entry rules rather than achievement requirements.
What Rewards Do AotC and CE Give?
The primary reward for both achievements is the permanent Feat of Strength achievement on your character. It appears in the achievement interface and can be used as a visible record of completing the current raid at the required difficulty.
