Where Primeval Skyfriend Drops

Primeval Skyfriend drops from Mythic Ula’tek in the Venomous Abyss. Ula’tek is the eighth and final encounter in Midnight Season 2’s eight-boss raid. The mount is therefore tied to the highest raid difficulty rather than to the raid meta-achievement, Mythic+ rating, PvP rating, or a vendor reputation track.

The mount’s source should be distinguished from other Season 2 rewards. The Venomous Abyss also contains raid gear, tier-set tokens, achievements, and the Glory of the Venomous Raider mount, but those rewards do not replace the Mythic Ula’tek kill required for Primeval Skyfriend.

How to Get Primeval Skyfriend

  1. Reach the character level and progression requirements needed to participate in current Midnight endgame content.
  2. Join or form a group capable of clearing the Venomous Abyss on Mythic difficulty.
  3. Progress through the raid until Ula’tek becomes available as the final encounter.
  4. Defeat Ula’tek on Mythic difficulty.
  5. Check the encounter loot after the kill. Primeval Skyfriend is a random drop, so a successful Mythic kill does not guarantee the mount.

You do not need to complete the raid on Normal or Heroic difficulty before attempting Mythic. Earlier difficulties can help with encounter practice and gearing, but they do not provide the Mythic Ula’tek mount reward.

Can Primeval Skyfriend Drop on Heroic or Normal?

No. Primeval Skyfriend is associated with Mythic Ula’tek. Normal, Heroic, and Raid Finder versions of the Venomous Abyss do not provide the mount.

Defeating Ula’tek on Heroic can still be valuable for raid achievements and seasonal progression, including eligibility toward Season 2 achievement rewards, but it is not an alternative source of Primeval Skyfriend.

Can Primeval Skyfriend Drop from Raid Finder?

No. Raid Finder is a separate difficulty and does not qualify for the Mythic Ula’tek mount drop. Raid Finder is intended to provide access to the raid story and encounter experience, while Primeval Skyfriend remains attached to the Mythic version of the final boss.

Is Primeval Skyfriend a Guaranteed Drop?

No. Primeval Skyfriend is a random drop. Killing Mythic Ula’tek gives you an opportunity to receive the mount, but the mount may not appear in the loot.

Blizzard has not published an official percentage for the drop chance. Treat claims about an exact rate as community estimates unless Blizzard adds a specific value to an official source. There is also no verified evidence that the mount is guaranteed after a certain number of kills.

How Often Can You Try for the Mount?

Your practical opportunities are tied to Mythic raid loot eligibility and the raid’s weekly reset structure. A character that is eligible for Mythic Ula’tek loot can make another attempt after the relevant weekly lockout resets.

Use the Raid tab and the in-game lockout information to confirm whether your character is still eligible before joining another group. Raid lockouts, saved progress, and loot eligibility are separate concerns: being able to enter a raid does not always mean that a character can receive loot from a boss again.

Do not assume that repeatedly resetting the instance creates unlimited mount attempts. Mythic raid loot rules and weekly eligibility determine whether another kill can award the mount.

How to Prepare for Mythic Ula’tek

Build a Reliable Raid Group

Mythic Ula’tek is endgame raid content, so a stable roster is generally more useful than repeatedly joining unfamiliar groups. Confirm the raid schedule, voice-chat expectations, loot rules, and progression goal before the run begins.

Groups farming the mount may prioritize a consistent clear rather than a first-kill progression environment. A reliable roster also makes it easier to return after a failed attempt or after a weekly reset.

Meet the Raid’s Current Gear and Performance Expectations

There is no single universal item-level requirement for every Mythic group. Requirements vary according to the group’s progression, current tuning, class composition, and whether the objective is progression or a farm clear.

Prepare your character with current Midnight Season 2 gear, appropriate embellishments and crafted items, consumables, enchants, and a well-tested talent setup. The Primeval Skyfriend guide is not a substitute for a full Ula’tek encounter guide, and the final boss should be approached with the same preparation as any other Mythic progression encounter.

Know the Encounter Before Farming

Learning the Mythic version of Ula’tek is important even when the group’s long-term goal is the mount. A failed attempt costs time and may leave the group without a completed clear for that week.

  • Read the current Mythic encounter journal before the raid.
  • Review assigned roles for movement, interrupts, dispels, and defensive cooldowns.
  • Confirm how the group handles progression pulls and recovery after a wipe.
  • Keep personal defensives and utility available for scheduled high-damage mechanics.
  • Follow the raid leader’s positioning instructions rather than using a generic route from another difficulty.

Primeval Skyfriend Compared with Other Midnight Season 2 Mounts

Mount or rewardPrimary sourceHow it differs from Primeval Skyfriend
Primeval SkyfriendMythic Ula’tekRandom drop from the final boss of the Venomous Abyss
Crimson VenomfangGlory of the Venomous RaiderAchievement reward for completing the raid meta-achievement
Breath of BlightMidnight Keystone Master: Season 2Mythic+ seasonal achievement reward
Breath of RuinMidnight Keystone Legend: Season 2Higher Mythic+ rating reward

These rewards use different acquisition paths. Completing the raid meta-achievement does not award Primeval Skyfriend, and reaching the required Mythic+ rating does not unlock the Mythic raid mount.

Does the Mount Count for Every Character?

Primeval Skyfriend is an account-wide mount. Once learned, it is added to the account’s mount collection rather than remaining limited to the character that received the drop.

The character that earns the mount still needs to learn the item. After learning it, eligible characters on the same World of Warcraft account can access the mount through the mount collection, subject to the normal riding and mount-use rules.

Can You Trade Primeval Skyfriend?

Do not plan around trading the mount. The mount is listed as a bind-on-pickup collection item, and its intended acquisition method is the eligible player’s own Mythic Ula’tek loot opportunity.

If the mount appears in your loot, learn it when you are ready rather than assuming it can be transferred to another character or player. Raid groups should establish their loot policies before the Ula’tek encounter begins.

Does Bonus Loot Improve the Mount Chance?

There is no verified official information confirming that bonus-loot mechanics increase the chance of receiving Primeval Skyfriend. Do not spend currency or use a bonus-loot option specifically for the mount unless the current in-game tooltip or an official Blizzard update explicitly confirms that interaction.

The safest assumption is that the mount is obtained through the normal Mythic Ula’tek loot opportunity. Gear-focused bonus-loot decisions should be treated separately from mount farming.

Best Practical Farming Approach

  1. Use a character that is already prepared for Mythic raiding rather than delaying attempts while building an entirely new roster.
  2. Join a group that clearly states whether it is progressing, clearing, or farming Ula’tek.
  3. Keep track of your Mythic raid lockout and loot eligibility after every kill.
  4. Run the encounter consistently each week when your character remains eligible for loot.
  5. Maintain more than one suitable character if you can reliably clear Mythic Ula’tek on each of them.
  6. Do not treat additional characters as guaranteed extra attempts; each character must independently meet the raid’s requirements and loot rules.

The most dependable long-term method is consistent weekly Mythic access. There is no confirmed pity system, published bad-luck protection, or guaranteed number of kills for Primeval Skyfriend.

Common Primeval Skyfriend Mistakes

  • Running the wrong difficulty: Normal, Heroic, and Raid Finder kills do not replace Mythic Ula’tek.
  • Confusing the mount with the raid meta reward: Crimson Venomfang comes from Glory of the Venomous Raider, while Primeval Skyfriend comes from the Mythic final boss.
  • Assuming a kill guarantees the mount: Primeval Skyfriend is a random drop.
  • Ignoring lockout status: A character may be unable to receive additional Mythic loot before the weekly reset.
  • Trusting an unverified drop percentage: Blizzard has not published an official drop rate.
  • Using an unprepared alt: An extra character only helps if it can participate in a successful Mythic clear.
  • Leaving loot rules unclear: Confirm how the group handles bind-on-pickup cosmetic drops before pulling Ula’tek.

Primeval Skyfriend Availability After Midnight Season 2

Primeval Skyfriend is available during Midnight Season 2 from Mythic Ula’tek. Blizzard has not announced a separate end-of-season removal date for the mount in the currently available official information.

Because the mount is tied to a Mythic raid boss rather than a seasonal rating achievement, do not assume that it will disappear when Season 2 ends. Blizzard could change its availability in a later update, so check the current raid and achievement information before treating the reward as permanently obtainable.
