Primeval Skyfriend is the Mythic-only raid mount from Ula'tek, the final boss of The Venomous Abyss in WoW Midnight Season 2. The current live rule is straightforward: defeating Mythic Ula'tek drops three Primeval Skyfriend mounts per kill.
That does not mean every member of the fixed 20-player Mythic raid receives the mount from one clear. Three copies are available from the qualifying kill, so only part of the roster can receive Primeval Skyfriend on that run.

Where Does Primeval Skyfriend Drop?
Primeval Skyfriend drops only from Ula'tek on Mythic difficulty. Ula'tek is the eighth and final boss of The Venomous Abyss, the main raid introduced for Midnight Season 2.
The raid is located in the Vaults of Atal'Utek on the Coiled Isle and contains eight encounters:
- Nek'zali the Soulcoiler
- Entombed Sentinels
- The Lost Explorers
- Vashnik the Malignant
- Sszorak
- The Twin Fangs
- The Coiled Altar
- Ula'tek
Primeval Skyfriend is a distinct Mythic final-boss reward. It is not obtained through the Glory meta-achievement, Mythic+ rating, Great Vault, Raid Finder or Heroic Ula'tek.
How Many Primeval Skyfriend Mounts Drop?
Under the current Midnight Season 2 reward structure, a successful Mythic Ula'tek kill drops three Primeval Skyfriend mounts.
Mythic raids use a fixed 20-player roster, so this is an important distinction:
- 20 players participate in the Mythic encounter.
- Three Primeval Skyfriend mounts drop from the qualifying kill.
- The kill does not give a mount automatically to all 20 players.
- Who receives one of the available copies depends on the applicable loot and group-allocation conditions.
Current live rule: three mounts per Mythic Ula'tek kill. Do not confuse this with a 100% personal drop for every raid member.

How to Get Primeval Skyfriend
- Prepare a level 90 WoW Retail character for current Midnight content.
- Join a Mythic Venomous Abyss raid with a compatible raid ID.
- Progress the raid instance to Ula'tek or join an existing compatible instance where the first seven encounters have already been defeated.
- Defeat Ula'tek on Mythic difficulty.
- Receive one of the three available Primeval Skyfriend mounts according to the raid's applicable loot and allocation rules.
- Learn the mount item to add Primeval Skyfriend to your account-wide collection.
Your character does not need a separate Normal or Heroic clear before participating in Mythic. Those difficulties are useful for gearing, practice and other rewards, but neither is a prerequisite source for Primeval Skyfriend.
Do You Have to Clear All 8 Mythic Bosses Yourself?
The Mythic raid instance must have progressed to Ula'tek, but your character does not necessarily need to have personally killed the previous seven bosses during that weekly reset.
A character with no conflicting Mythic raid ID can join a compatible progressed instance. Once the character becomes bound to that Mythic raid ID, however, the normal Mythic lockout restrictions apply.

Can Primeval Skyfriend Drop on Heroic?
No. Primeval Skyfriend is specifically listed as a reward from Mythic Ula'tek.

Primeval Skyfriend and the Mythic Raid Lockout
Mythic raids use a restrictive instance-based lockout. This matters more for Primeval Skyfriend farming than the lockout rules on Normal or Heroic.
- Your character becomes associated with a specific Mythic raid ID.
- You cannot freely switch between different Mythic instances after becoming saved.
- Previously defeated bosses are already dead in that raid ID.
- Loot eligibility is tied to the weekly raid reset.
- A conflicting raid ID can prevent your character from joining another scheduled Ula'tek group.
Before joining a mount run, check your current raid information in game and tell the raid leader if the character already has Mythic Venomous Abyss progress.
Avoid joining an unrelated Mythic group after confirming a scheduled mount run, because becoming saved to another instance can create a lockout conflict for the same weekly reset.
How Often Can You Try for Primeval Skyfriend?
Primeval Skyfriend farming is constrained by the weekly Mythic raid structure. A character does not receive unlimited fresh Mythic Ula'tek loot opportunities by repeatedly resetting or re-entering the raid.
For practical farming, treat each independently eligible Mythic-ready character as a separate weekly opportunity. Additional characters only improve your overall chances if they can actually join compatible Mythic Ula'tek kills.
Running many undergeared alts is therefore not automatically more efficient than maintaining one or two characters that can reliably access Mythic farm groups.
What Else Does Mythic Ula'tek Reward?
Primeval Skyfriend is only one part of the Mythic final-boss reward package. A qualifying Mythic Ula'tek kill can also provide:
- Cutting Edge: Ula'tek while the seasonal Feat of Strength remains obtainable.
- Mythic: Ula'tek and the associated Venom's End title.
- Item level 344 direct final-boss loot opportunities.
- Eligible progress toward the Raid section of the weekly Great Vault.
- Difficulty-specific Venomous Abyss housing trophies.
Cutting Edge is time-limited to the active raid-tier achievement window. Primeval Skyfriend is a separate boss reward and should not be confused with the Cutting Edge achievement itself.

Mythic Ula'tek Loot
Ula'tek is one of the highest-value loot encounters in The Venomous Abyss. Eligible Mythic final-boss equipment currently reaches item level 344.
Its reward pool includes high-end weapons, armor and other encounter-specific drops. Ula'tek can also drop the Slumbering Coil Curio, which eligible characters can exchange for a suitable Season 2 Tier Set piece.

Primeval Skyfriend vs Crimson Venomfang
The Venomous Abyss has two major mount objectives, but they come from completely different systems.

Completing Glory of the Venomous Raider does not give Primeval Skyfriend. Likewise, simply killing Mythic Ula'tek does not complete the eight special Glory encounter achievements.

Is Primeval Skyfriend Account-Wide?
Yes. The Primeval Skyfriend item teaches an account-wide mount. Once the item has been learned, eligible characters on the same World of Warcraft account can access the mount through the Mount Journal under the normal account-wide collection rules.
Can You Trade Primeval Skyfriend?
Do not build your farming strategy around trading a mount after it has been awarded. Primeval Skyfriend is a collection item tied to the Mythic Ula'tek reward process, and the exact distribution of the three available copies should be established by the group before the encounter.
For organized mount runs, the important question is not whether another player can trade a mount later. It is whether one of the three available copies is explicitly allocated to your character under the agreed raid conditions.
Does a Bonus Roll Guarantee Primeval Skyfriend?
No published Blizzard rule currently states that a bonus-loot mechanic creates an additional guaranteed Primeval Skyfriend or increases the three-mount allocation from Mythic Ula'tek.
Use bonus-loot systems for eligible equipment according to their current in-game rules rather than assuming they create another mount attempt. The official Season 2 rule to rely on is the direct one: Mythic Ula'tek drops three Primeval Skyfriend mounts.
Best Primeval Skyfriend Farming Strategy
- Use a Mythic-ready character. Reliable access to the kill is more important than having many characters that cannot realistically reach Ula'tek.
- Check your raid ID before joining. A conflicting Mythic lockout can prevent access to the scheduled group.
- Join a group with a clear mount policy. Three mounts for twenty players makes allocation important.
- Learn the Mythic Ula'tek encounter. Even farm groups expect players to understand their assignments.
- Repeat after the weekly reset. Mythic farming is governed by weekly raid eligibility rather than unlimited instance resets.
- Use additional characters only when they are genuinely raid-ready. Each alt needs its own compatible Mythic access.
Primeval Skyfriend Mount Service vs Standard Ula'tek Kill
The difference between the two objectives is important.

Will Primeval Skyfriend Become a 1% Drop After Season 2?
There is currently no need to present a future 1% drop rate as confirmed Blizzard information.
Blizzard's published Season 2 rule confirms three Primeval Skyfriend mounts per Mythic Ula'tek kill under the current reward structure. Future availability or drop rules can be changed in a later patch, expansion or raid tier.
Until Blizzard publishes the post-season rules, treat any exact future percentage as an expectation or community prediction rather than a confirmed live mechanic.
Common Primeval Skyfriend Mistakes
- Calling the mount a random unknown-rate drop. The current live rule is three mounts from each qualifying Mythic Ula'tek kill.
- Assuming every player receives one. Three drops do not cover a 20-player Mythic roster.
- Running Heroic for the mount. Primeval Skyfriend is Mythic-only.
- Confusing it with Crimson Venomfang. Crimson Venomfang comes from the Glory meta-achievement.
- Ignoring the Mythic raid ID. A conflicting lockout can prevent access to a scheduled Ula'tek instance.
- Assuming a standard Mythic kill guarantees mount allocation. Boss completion and mount allocation are different objectives.
- Publishing an unconfirmed future 1% rate as fact. The current official information only confirms the live three-mount structure.
