Cozy Sleeping Bag in WoW Forever: Quest Route, Coordinates and XP Bonus

Cozy Sleeping Bag in WoW Forever: Quest Route, Coordinates and XP Bonus

The Cozy Sleeping Bag in WoW Forever is a reusable quest reward that provides up to 3% increased experience from kills and quests after three minutes of rest. The chain becomes available at level 14: Alliance players start in Westfall, while Horde players start in The Barrens. Both factions then follow the same route through Stonetalon Mountains, Loch Modan and Thoradin's Wall. The chain is available in the current Forever beta, which has a level cap of 30 and is scheduled to end on October 21, 2026. This guide covers faction starting points, quest objects, coordinates, difficult climbs, rewards and reported beta issues. The Sleeping Bag's experience bonus is separate from stored Rested XP, and Student Fodder no longer provides its old Season of Discovery rested-experience reward.

Short answer: Start at the Burned-Out Remains in your faction's opening zone, visit the remains in the opposite faction's starting location, and complete the shared quest chain ending at Thoradin's Wall. Collect the Cozy Sleeping Bag from This Must Be The Place, then rest inside it for three minutes to reach the maximum 3% experience bonus. The item has a one-hour cooldown, while recent Forever gameplay footage shows a two-hour Well-Rested buff.

Cozy Sleeping Bag Requirements and Travel Preparation

You must be at least level 14 to begin the chain. This minimum requirement does not mean the entire journey is safe at that level. The route crosses higher-level areas, hostile territory, guarded approaches and steep cliffs. Completing it around levels 20–30 may make travel more manageable, especially for Horde characters entering Alliance-controlled areas.

The questline is available to both factions and does not require a specific class or profession. Its main objectives are interactive world objects rather than dungeon enemies. A mount is not required, but flight paths and a carefully chosen Hearthstone location can reduce unnecessary travel. Some later quests display higher recommended quest levels, but their minimum acceptance requirement remains level 14 in current Forever quest records.

  • Leave inventory space for intermediate rewards, equipment choices and the final Sleeping Bag.
  • Check your quest log before crossing continents. Accept each follow-up quest before leaving its corresponding object.
  • If a later quest does not appear, verify that its prerequisite is complete. A displayed quest level is not necessarily its minimum acceptance level.
  • Consider combining the journey with normal leveling routes to avoid unnecessary cross-continent trips.

For a broader Horde itinerary, use the WoW Forever Horde leveling guide to connect these locations with nearby questing areas. The Sleeping Bag is an optional leveling upgrade, not a mandatory step in your normal quest progression.

Alliance and Horde Starting Locations

Both factions must visit Westfall and The Barrens, but they complete these opening locations in reverse order. The first interaction starts ...and that note you found. The second location completes that quest and unlocks Stepping Stones. The quest objects may be marked in the current beta, even though this chain originally functioned as a hidden discovery in Season of Discovery.

Faction-specific opening route

HordeThe Barrens: 46.0, 74.0. Inspect the Burned-Out Remains at the ruined tower.Westfall, Alexston Farmstead: 37.0, 50.0. Inspect the Burned-Out Remains beside the cart wreckage.

Interact with the world objects rather than looking for a nearby quest NPC. At the second location, turn in the opening quest and make sure Stepping Stones appears in your log before traveling to Stonetalon Mountains. The Nailed Plank beside the remains provides the follow-up quest. If necessary, interact with it separately after completing the first objective.

Sleeping Bag Route Map and Coordinates

The shared route includes several objects positioned above or below the main roads. Coordinates identify the general objective location, but finding the correct path, cliff ledge or entrance is essential.

Alliance route: Westfall, then The Barrens, Stonetalon Mountains, Loch Modan and Thoradin's Wall.

Horde route: The Barrens, then Westfall, Stonetalon Mountains, Loch Modan and Thoradin's Wall. Horde players must return to Kalimdor after completing the Westfall objective.

For a visual reference, the interactive Sleeping Bag waypoint maps show the Stonetalon objectives, Stonewrought Dam and the approach to Thoradin's Wall. Use the following checklist with your in-game map.

Shared Quest Walkthrough: Stonetalon to Thoradin's Wall

Once you have Stepping Stones, both factions follow the same quest sequence. Travel hazards differ, especially near faction guards, but every character must complete the object interactions in order. Reaching a later location does not bypass an unfinished prerequisite.

Reach the Camp and Complete Stepping Stones

Start the ascent near 50.9, 52.3 and follow the mountain path northeast of Sun Rock Retreat toward the abandoned camp at 40.6, 52.4. Trying to approach the camp directly from the valley may leave you below an inaccessible cliff. Alliance players should avoid the Horde guards near Sun Rock Retreat.

At the camp, interact with Pocket Litter on the box near the tent. Turn in Stepping Stones and accept Scramble. The nearby campfire also offers Rekindle, an optional side quest involving Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder provided earlier in the chain. Rekindle is not required to obtain the Sleeping Bag.

Climb to the Mound of Dirt

From the camp, travel north up the hillside and cross the gap to the upper ledge at 39.6, 49.8. Identify the landing point before jumping. Moving directly toward the map marker from the lower ground will not lead you to the object.

Interact with the Mound of Dirt, complete Scramble and accept Wet Job. Confirm that the new quest is in your log before leaving Stonetalon Mountains for Loch Modan.

Find the Figurine at Stonewrought Dam

Travel to Stonewrought Dam at the northern edge of Loch Modan, near 49.4, 12.9. The Carved Figurine is on a narrow ledge below the upper walkway, near the large carved stone heads overlooking the Wetlands. Look down and identify the correct ledge before jumping. Do not drop directly to the bottom of the dam.

Interact with the figurine to complete Wet Job and accept Eagle's Fist. Horde players should avoid hostile Alliance guards on the way to Loch Modan and near the dam. Do not rely on dying in another zone and using a Spirit Healer as a shortcut, since that approach may return you to your original location.

Collect the Cozy Sleeping Bag at Thoradin's Wall

Approach Thoradin's Wall from Hillsbrad Foothills at approximately 87.3, 49.6. Find the damaged cart leaning against the wall and use it to begin the climb. Follow the ledges into the opening, pass through the room inside the wall and look to the right for the hanging Messenger Bag.

Complete Eagle's Fist and accept This Must Be The Place. Then interact with the Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel directly below the Messenger Bag to complete the chain and receive the Cozy Sleeping Bag. Clicking the Messenger Bag alone does not grant the final reward.

Sleeping Bag Quest Rewards and Student Fodder

The main reward is the reusable Cozy Sleeping Bag. The questline also awards experience, consumables and equipment. Reward details are based on current Forever quest records and beta reports, and some item values may change before launch.

  • Inventory bags: Stepping Stones lists the Sturdy Lunchbox and Old Toolbox. Early Forever guides describe both as 12-slot bags, but later beta reports have raised questions about changes to their capacity. Check the current reward tooltips rather than assuming both still provide 12 slots.
  • Student Fodder: the chain is documented as rewarding five in total, including the final quest reward. Its effects are different from the Season of Discovery version.
  • Other rewards: the opening quest provides useful consumables, while Scramble includes a choice of ranged equipment and ammunition. Other steps provide experience and additional supplies. Choose equipment appropriate for your class.

Student Fodder no longer grants the immediate Rested XP reward familiar from Season of Discovery. Forever item data describes healing, class-resource restoration and a brief movement-speed effect. However, beta testers reported the error "Target is too low level" when attempting to use Student Fodder, including reports from October 11–13. This is a reported beta usability problem, not a confirmed intended level requirement. Check the item in your current client and report the error if it persists.

How the Sleeping Bag XP Buff and Rested XP Work

Use the item in an eligible outdoor location to unroll the Sleeping Bag, then move onto it and lie down. Current player documentation reports an approximately 15-second deployment time, with the placed bag remaining available for up to 20 minutes unless it disappears earlier. Each full minute spent resting inside grants one stack of Well-Rested, increasing experience earned from kills and quests by 1% per stack. Three minutes provide the maximum three stacks, or 3% increased experience.

The item has a one-hour cooldown. Buff duration is documented inconsistently: Wowhead's September Forever guide describes one hour, while more recent Forever gameplay footage reviewed on October 12 shows a two-hour Well-Rested duration. The current evidence favors two hours in that captured beta build, but the buff timer should still be checked in-game because beta behavior may change. The item's cooldown and the duration of its experience buff are separate mechanics.

Players report that the experience buff can persist through death and that multiple party members can rest in a single deployed bag. It can also be combined with other eligible experience bonuses, including experience-boosting Cooking food. Because some behavior is documented through player testing rather than final release notes, confirm your buff after dying or changing game layers.

Percentage XP Bonus vs. Stored Rested Experience

The Sleeping Bag provides a percentage bonus to experience earned while Well-Rested is active. Stored Rested XP is a separate experience reserve accumulated in resting areas and consumed through eligible creature kills. Receiving three Sleeping Bag stacks does not immediately award 3% of a level or add that amount to your stored rested reserve.

Lying inside the bag also puts your character into a resting state, allowing ordinary rested-experience accumulation under the relevant game rules. However, that is not the same as Camp Tent's immediate refill of stored Rested XP up to 5% of a level when eligible. The WoW Forever Camping guide explains how the tent, profession objects and their separate cooldowns work.

Refresh the Sleeping Bag buff during normal breaks instead of interrupting productive questing every time the item's cooldown ends. Organize inventory, prepare consumables or coordinate with party members during the three-minute rest. Before moving away, confirm that the Well-Rested buff has reached three stacks.

Sleeping Bag Quest Errors and Practical Workarounds

Some problems come from missed object interactions or difficult terrain, while others have been reported as bugs in the Forever beta. The following checks can help identify common causes, but they are not guaranteed fixes for broken quest progression.

The Next Quest Does Not Appear

Check your quest log, available quest capacity and the completion status of the previous objective. Turning in one quest and accepting the next may require separate interactions. At the opening locations, inspect the Burned-Out Remains and nearby Nailed Plank. At Thoradin's Wall, interact with both the Messenger Bag and the satchel beneath it.

Beta players reported that Eagle's Fist sometimes failed to become available after completing Wet Job at Stonewrought Dam. Quest sharing reportedly did not resolve the problem. Reopening the figurine or reloading the interface may help diagnose the issue, but neither is a verified fix. Record your faction, level, quest name and location when submitting an in-game bug report. Do not abandon the chain unless you have confirmed that doing so is necessary.

The Bag Will Not Place or a Friend Cannot Use It

Choose a clear outdoor location outside restricted city, capital or inn areas. Leave combat, verify the item's cooldown and allow the deployment action to complete without interruption. For group use, make sure everyone is on the same game layer. Player guides also report that characters with different PvP flag states may be unable to share the same bag. Check these conditions before assuming the item is broken.

The Deployed Bag Disappears After a Layer Change

Forever testers reported that a deployed Sleeping Bag can remain on its original layer after its owner moves to another layer, while the item cooldown continues running. An official forum report dated October 4 describes this behavior. Assemble your group and allow any layer transition to finish before deploying the bag. This precaution does not guarantee protection against automatic layer changes.

If the bag disappears while its cooldown remains active, reloading your interface is not known to restore it or reset the cooldown. Keep using any Well-Rested stacks you already obtained, rest in another party member's available bag if possible, or wait until your own item becomes usable again.

Conclusion

The Cozy Sleeping Bag is a useful long-term leveling reward, but obtaining it requires a multi-zone journey and several easy-to-miss interactions. Complete each follow-up before leaving, approach the Stonetalon ledge and Stonewrought Dam from the correct elevation, and interact with the final satchel at Thoradin's Wall. After obtaining the bag, use three-minute breaks to maintain its 3% experience bonus and check the current in-game buff timer. Keep beta-specific reward changes and reported bugs in mind until Forever launches.
