WoW Forever mounts keep the ground-based travel model of original Azeroth while adding new racial, Legacy, reputation, class, PvP, promotional and datamined mounts. Forever does not have flying mounts. The current beta is capped at level 30, so normal level-40 and level-60 riding progression still cannot be tested directly through ordinary beta leveling; the requirements below therefore distinguish Blizzard-confirmed information from current Forever client data.
The biggest Forever-specific additions include the Skyborne Galestriders, the Spectral Bear from the Legacy reward track, the Pack Kodo from Merchant's Favor progression, two promotional ground mounts and unique Forsaken Paladin mounts. Blizzard has also changed the mount economy toward the Burning Crusade model: most of the up-front cost moves into riding training, and learning the riding skill also grants a mount. Additional mounts still have their own level, riding or acquisition requirements.
Short answer: Current Forever data places the first standard ground-riding tier at level 40 and the faster tier at level 60. Forever also adds new mounts from Legacy, reputation, PvP, class quests and optional editions. None of these mounts allows flying.

How Does Riding Work in WoW Forever?
Forever retains two major ground-riding progression tiers for the original 1–60 journey. Current Forever item and spell data places standard mounts at level 40 and fast ground mounts at level 60.
Blizzard has changed where the major gold cost sits. Forever adopts a Burning Crusade-style approach that shifts the up-front expense into riding training. Blizzard also states that learning the riding skill grants a mount, while promotional and collectible mounts still require the appropriate riding skill and any level requirement shown on the item.
| Tier | Typical level | Typical speed | Main rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard ground mount | 40 | 60% increased ground speed | Requires the first riding tier or an applicable class equivalent; normal riding training grants a mount. |
| Fast ground mount | 60 | 100% increased ground speed | Requires the higher riding tier or an applicable class/reward exception. |
The beta cap is currently level 30, so final level-40 and level-60 trainer prices and all reputation interactions cannot yet be verified through normal beta progression. Do not use an old Classic or Burning Crusade gold figure as the final Forever training price until those tiers can be tested directly.
Does WoW Forever Have Flying Mounts?
No. Blizzard explicitly designed Forever without flying mounts. Azeroth remains a ground-travel world where roads, boats, zeppelins, terrain, dangerous zones and ground mounts remain relevant.
This is not a level-60 feature that simply has not been reached in beta. No flying mounts is one of Blizzard's stated design rules for World of Warcraft: Forever.
A mount that can fly in another version of World of Warcraft should therefore not be assumed to gain flight in Forever.

The original racial mount families remain the basis of ordinary riding, while Skyborne receive the new Galestrider family. Characters normally use their own racial riding type unless they meet the applicable reputation or mount-specific requirements for another race's mounts.
| Race | Mount family | Faction |
|---|---|---|
| Human | Horses | Alliance |
| Dwarf | Rams | Alliance |
| Night Elf | Nightsabers | Alliance |
| Gnome | Mechanostriders | Alliance |
| Orc | Wolves | Horde |
| Tauren | Kodos | Horde |
| Troll | Raptors | Horde |
| Undead | Skeletal Horses | Horde |
| Skyborne | Galestriders | Alliance or Horde Skyborne |
Skyborne have four regular Galestrider variants with level-40 requirements and four Swift versions with level-60 requirements. Current Forever item records flag the mount items as account-wide and require Galestrider Riding.
All Skyborne Galestrider Mounts
Galestriders are Forever's new Skyborne racial mount family. They use crane-like models and have separate standard and Swift versions.
| Level 40 | Level 60 |
|---|---|
| Empyrean Galestrider | Swift Empyrean Galestrider |
| Regal Galestrider | Swift Regal Galestrider |
| Stormy Galestrider | Swift Stormy Galestrider |
| Umber Galestrider | Swift Umber Galestrider |
The current Forever database places the Galestrider vendors on Zephras Isle. Final prices and any reputation requirements or discounts should be verified when level-40 and level-60 progression becomes directly testable.
How Do You Get the Spectral Bear Mount?
The Reins of the Spectral Bear are the launch Legacy mount reward. Current Legacy reward data places the Spectral Bear at 55 accumulated Legacy Points, and Blizzard confirms the mount as a Legacy System reward.
This is a reward-track threshold, not a character-level requirement. The current mount item requires level 60 and Journeyman Riding, so earning 55 Legacy Points does not let a lower-level character ride it immediately.
The launch Legacy reward track currently awards:
- 15 points — Replica Ironforge Air Rifle;
- 25 points — Spectral Bear Cub;
- 40 points — Spectral Bear Tabard;
- 55 points — Reins of the Spectral Bear.
Legacy Points are Battle.net account-wide for non-Hardcore characters, while each character can spend its available points differently. Hardcore follows separate progression rules. The WoW Forever Legacy System Guide covers the 65 launch challenges and perk structure separately.
How Do You Get the Pack Kodo?
The Reins of the Pack Kodo are one of the new Merchant's Favor rewards. Current beta vendor data places the mount at 6,000 Merchant's Favor.
The Alliance progression faction is the Azeroth Commerce Authority, with its camp at Three Corners in Redridge Mountains. The Horde equivalent is Durotar Supply and Logistics, with its trade hub outside the Crossroads in the Barrens. Both use the crate and profession-supply system to award Merchant's Favor.
The current mount item requires level 60 and Journeyman Riding. The 6,000-Favor price comes from beta vendor data and should still be rechecked against the launch build.
This mount is particularly notable because it gives Alliance characters access to a Kodo model through Forever's new progression system rather than through the normal Tauren racial route.
What Mounts Do Forsaken Paladins Get?
Forever adds Forsaken Paladin progression and gives the class its own mount identity. Current Forever data contains a level-40 Summon Warhorse spell; its associated learn effect also grants Apprentice Riding. At level 60, Forsaken Paladins can obtain Summon Forsaken Charger.
The level-60 Forsaken Charger is explicitly confirmed by Blizzard as part of a dedicated Forsaken Paladin epic mount quest. Blizzard describes the Forsaken version as a story of retribution rather than simply copying the Alliance Paladin questline.
The complete quest materials, gold requirements and dungeon steps should be added only after the level-60 questline becomes available for direct testing.
Do Warlocks Still Get Felsteed and Dreadsteed?
Yes. The current Forever database retains the traditional Warlock class mounts: Summon Felsteed at level 40 and Summon Dreadsteed at level 60.
Dreadsteed remains connected to level-60 class progression rather than becoming a generic vendor mount. Exact Forever launch materials, gold costs and quest steps should be verified once level-60 content can be tested.
Which PvP Mounts Are in WoW Forever?
Forever's redesigned PvP Rank system keeps Black War Mounts as a major progression reward. Current Forever reward data explicitly places the Black War Mount unlock at Rank 11.
| Alliance | Horde |
|---|---|
| Black War Steed | Black War Wolf |
| Black War Ram | Black War Kodo |
| Black War Tiger | Black War Raptor |
| Black Battlestrider | Red Skeletal Warhorse |
Rank 11 belongs to Forever's seasonal PvP progression. Final vendor costs and the exact riding interactions should still be checked against the live season rather than inferred from an older Classic honor system.
Forever also retains database records for the Alterac Valley reputation mounts Stormpike Battle Charger for Alliance and Frostwolf Howler for Horde.
The WoW Forever PvP Guide covers Rank Points, Honor, Battleground reputation and the seasonal system.
Which Mounts Come From WoW Forever Upgrade Editions?
Blizzard currently advertises two Forever ground mounts through its optional upgrade packages. These mounts still obey Forever's riding and level requirements and therefore do not function as an early paid riding unlock.
| Mount | Source | Current requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Cerulean Prideclaw | Forever upgrade packs | Current Forever item data requires level 60 and Journeyman Riding. |
| Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion | Skyborne Epic Pack / Warcraft Forever Collection | Current item data requires level 40 and Apprentice Riding. |
Because the major baseline mount expense is shifted toward riding training, owning either promotional mount does not remove the normal progression required to unlock the corresponding riding tier.
Which New Forever Mounts Still Have Unknown Sources?
The beta client contains more mount spells, models and records than Blizzard has assigned public acquisition methods to. A datamined spell, model or database entry proves that related data exists in the client; it does not prove that a collectible mount will be obtainable at launch.
| Mount | Current information |
|---|---|
| Reins of the Striped Dawnsaber | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| Black Skeletal Horse | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| Dark Skeletal Horse | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| Green Skeletal Horse | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| Purple Skeletal Horse | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| Ochre Skeletal Warhorse | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed for Forever. |
| Lavender Kodo | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| White Kodo | Present in Forever data; source not confirmed. |
| Caravan Kodo | Datamined mount spell; acquisition source not confirmed. |
| Venomhide Ravasaur | Present in Forever data; Forever acquisition method not confirmed. |
| Druid Moose mount variants | Several mount-spell/model entries are present in the beta client; source not confirmed. |
| Warden Saber mount variants | Several mount-spell/model entries are present in the beta client; source not confirmed. |
| Devilsaur mount variants | Several mount-spell/model entries are present in the beta client; source not confirmed. |
Do not farm these yet: A datamined mount spell or model with no acquisition source should remain listed as unknown until Blizzard enables an item, vendor, reputation reward, quest, drop, achievement or another confirmed method that actually awards it.
Are Classic Rare Mounts Still Relevant in Forever?
Yes. Forever builds on original Azeroth rather than replacing every existing mount source. Established rare and reputation mounts remain relevant where their Forever records and acquisition methods are retained.
For example, Deathcharger's Reins remain in the Forever database as a level-60, Journeyman Riding mount associated with Stratholme. Alterac Valley retains records for its faction mounts, while the standard racial mount families continue alongside the new collection.
Do not copy modern Retail drop rates or acquisition shortcuts into Forever. Each rare mount should be checked against Forever-specific data and, where necessary, the live 1.60.1 version.
Are WoW Forever Mounts Account-Wide?
Blizzard confirms that Collections are account-wide across Forever rulesets, with Hardcore handled separately. Current Forever item records also explicitly flag many old and new mount items as Account-wide, including the Spectral Bear, Pack Kodo, Galestriders, promotional mounts and Deathcharger's Reins.
Account-wide collection access does not mean every character automatically satisfies the level, riding, race or other requirement needed to use a mount. Learning or collecting a mount and being eligible to ride it are separate checks.
Hardcore uses special progression rules: progress and collections earned in Hardcore can become available outside Hardcore, but progress from other rulesets does not flow back into Hardcore.
What Should You Do Before Getting Your First Mount?
The practical preparation is mostly financial. Because Forever shifts most of the baseline mount expense into riding training, spending heavily on gear or profession materials immediately before the level-40 riding tier can delay your first riding unlock.
Before reaching the riding tier, prioritize:
- keeping enough gold available for riding training;
- remembering that normal riding training itself grants a mount under Blizzard's announced Forever system;
- not budgeting around unverified level-40 reputation discounts or old Classic trainer prices;
- checking whether your class has a class-specific mount route;
- keeping Merchant's Favor, PvP and Legacy progression separate from your basic riding budget.
Exact launch gold targets should be added only after the level-40 riding tier can be tested directly rather than extrapolated from another Classic version.
WoW Forever Mount Mistakes to Avoid
The largest mount mistakes currently come from mixing Retail, Classic, Burning Crusade and beta information.
- Expecting flying: Forever has no flying mounts.
- Assuming a promotional mount skips riding training: it does not.
- Assuming Cerulean Prideclaw is a level-40 mount: current Forever item data requires level 60 and Journeyman Riding.
- Calling 55 Legacy Points a level requirement: that is the Spectral Bear reward-track threshold; the mount itself currently requires level 60.
- Buying around old Classic riding costs: Forever shifts the major baseline expense into training, and Blizzard says the training grants a mount.
- Treating every datamined mount spell or model as obtainable: several records still have no confirmed acquisition source.
- Copying Retail sources: a mount that exists in Retail does not automatically use the same acquisition method in Forever.
- Ignoring class mounts: Paladin and Warlock progression can change how those classes approach ordinary riding progression.
- Using current beta availability as launch availability: the cap is level 30, so level-40 and level-60 riding content still awaits direct beta testing.
WoW Forever Mounts FAQ
These short answers cover common mount questions not already resolved by the source tables.
What level do you get a mount in WoW Forever?
Current Forever data places the first standard ground-riding tier at level 40 and the faster tier at level 60. Blizzard says learning the normal riding skill also grants a mount. The beta is currently capped at 30, so final trainer pricing still needs higher-level verification.
Can the Cerulean Prideclaw be used before level 60?
Not according to the current Forever item record. It requires level 60 and Journeyman Riding, and owning the promotional reward does not bypass those requirements.
Does WoW Forever have new mounts?
Yes. Confirmed additions include Galestriders, the Spectral Bear, Pack Kodo, promotional mounts and Forsaken Paladin mounts, while additional mount spells and models are present in beta data without confirmed acquisition sources.
Can you fly in WoW Forever?
No. Forever is explicitly designed around ground travel and does not include flying mounts.
Conclusion
WoW Forever keeps mounts meaningful by preserving ground travel while expanding the ways players collect new rides. Current data places the first normal riding tier at level 40 and the faster tier at 60, while Blizzard's revised system shifts most of the baseline expense into training and grants a mount when that riding skill is learned. Keep Legacy, Merchant's Favor and PvP progression moving naturally, and treat datamined mount spells and models as previews until their acquisition sources are actually confirmed. The major Forever additions currently include Galestriders, the Spectral Bear, Pack Kodo, promotional ground mounts and the new Forsaken Paladin mount progression.
