World of Warcraft: Forever will launch its Legacy System with 65 Legacy Challenges spread across classes, professions, PvP, exploration, dungeons and raids. Every completed challenge awards 1 Legacy Point, so the initial Battle.net account-wide pool contains 65 earnable points for non-Hardcore characters. That does not mean one character can equip 65 points of perks: at launch, each character can spend up to 16 Legacy Points in its own Legacy build. The distinction matters because progress beyond those 16 points still contributes to long-term account progression and Legacy Rewards. Blizzard officially published the full launch challenge structure on September 23, 2026, so the list below uses the confirmed 65-point breakdown rather than treating earlier beta datamining as the final source.
Short answer: there are 65 Legacy Points available from launch challenges: 27 from class leveling, 18 from professions, 12 from PvP, 2 from Adventure, 3 from dungeons and 3 from raids. Each listed challenge awards exactly 1 point.
All 65 WoW Forever Legacy Points at a Glance
The launch pool is divided into six categories. Some objectives can be completed naturally on one main character, while completing the full account checklist requires multiple classes and broader profession progress.
| Category | Challenges | Legacy Points |
| Classes | Reach levels 25, 45 and 60 on each of the nine classes | 27 |
| Tradeskills | Reach 150, 225 and 300 in each non-gathering primary profession | 18 |
| Player vs. Player | PvP ranks, Battleground reputations and Field of Honor milestones | 12 |
| Adventure | World exploration and the Lord Valthalak dungeon-set questline | 2 |
| Dungeons | Complete the final-boss requirements for three dungeon level ranges | 3 |
| Raids | Onyxia, Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps | 3 |
| Total | 65 Legacy Challenges | 65 |
Earn 27 Legacy Points by Leveling Every Class
Class leveling is the largest single source of Legacy Points. Each of WoW Forever's nine classes has three separate milestones at levels 25, 45 and 60. Finishing all three milestones on one class gives 3 points, while completing all nine classes provides the full 27.
- Druid: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Hunter: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Mage: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Paladin: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Priest: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Rogue: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Shaman: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Warlock: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Warrior: level 25, 45 and 60 — 3 Legacy Points.
The milestone is tied to the class rather than simply reaching the same level repeatedly. Leveling two Warriors to 25 does not create two different class challenges; the wider account progression comes from advancing different classes through their individual milestones.
Earn 18 Legacy Points from Professions
The profession category covers the six non-gathering primary professions. Each awards a Legacy Point at skill 150, another at 225 and another at 300, producing 3 points per profession and 18 in total. The broader WoW Forever professions guide covers how these tradeskills fit into leveling, crafting and Camping without treating the Legacy milestones as the only reason to choose a profession.
- Alchemy: 150, 225 and 300 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Blacksmithing: 150, 225 and 300 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Enchanting: 150, 225 and 300 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Engineering: 150, 225 and 300 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Leatherworking: 150, 225 and 300 — 3 Legacy Points.
- Tailoring: 150, 225 and 300 — 3 Legacy Points.
Mining, Herbalism and Skinning are gathering professions and are not part of Blizzard's 18 profession-point challenge list. Cooking, Fishing and First Aid are also outside these 18 launch tradeskill challenges.

PvP has three separate Legacy progression paths: Honor ranks, Exalted Battleground reputations and the Field of Honor PvP Season's Journey. Together they provide 12 points, making PvP the largest source available to a single character without changing class or professions. The WoW Forever PvP guide covers the wider Honor, rank and Battleground systems separately.
PvP Rank Challenges — 5 Points
Five specific Honor-system ranks award a Legacy Point. You do not receive one for every individual rank; the Legacy milestones are Rank 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14.
- Rank 3: 1 Legacy Point.
- Rank 7: 1 Legacy Point.
- Rank 10: 1 Legacy Point.
- Rank 13: 1 Legacy Point.
- Rank 14: 1 Legacy Point.
Battleground Reputation — 4 Points
Another four points come from reaching Exalted with the reputation associated with each launch Battleground. The faction required depends on your side.
- Alterac Valley: Frostwolf Clan or Stormpike Guard — 1 Legacy Point.
- Arathi Basin: The Defilers or League of Arathor — 1 Legacy Point.
- Warsong Gulch: Warsong Outriders or Silverwing Sentinels — 1 Legacy Point.
- Darkspear Islands: Darkspear Raiders or Theramore Expeditionary Force — 1 Legacy Point.
Field of Honor — 3 Points
The remaining PvP points are tied to three milestones in the Field of Honor PvP Season's Journey. These are time-gated because the relevant seasonal week must become available before its challenge can be completed.
- Week 4 quest: 1 Legacy Point.
- Week 7 quest: 1 Legacy Point.
- Week 10 quest: 1 Legacy Point.
Earn 2 Legacy Points from Adventure Challenges
The Adventure category has only two challenges, but both require substantial general progression rather than a simple level threshold.
- Explore Azeroth: complete the entire world map on the same character — 1 Legacy Point.
- Lord Valthalak dungeon-set questline: complete the full quest chain — 1 Legacy Point.
The current Forever client identifies the Lord Valthalak objective as the questline beginning with An Earnest Proposition and ending with Saving the Best for Last. Blizzard's official Legacy guide confirms that completing the Lord Valthalak dungeon-set questline awards the point. Unlike class milestones, the exploration challenge specifically requires the world-map objective to be completed on one character.
Earn 3 Legacy Points from Dungeon Completion
Dungeon Legacy Points are grouped by level range. The important detail is that one dungeon does not equal one point. To complete a dungeon challenge, you must defeat the final boss in every dungeon included in that challenge's level bracket.
- Level 15–25 dungeons: defeat the final boss in every qualifying dungeon — 1 Legacy Point.
- Level 26–45 dungeons: defeat the final boss in every qualifying dungeon — 1 Legacy Point.
- Level 46–60 dungeons: defeat the final boss in every qualifying dungeon — 1 Legacy Point.
This makes dungeon progress closer to a completion checklist than a repeatable farm. Running the same instance repeatedly does not create extra Legacy Points once its contribution to the relevant bracket challenge has been satisfied.
Earn 3 Legacy Points from Raids
Three raid objectives are part of the initial Legacy list. Unlike the dungeon categories, the raid requirements are tied to named encounters or complete raid boss rosters.
- Onyxia's Lair: defeat Onyxia — 1 Legacy Point.
- Hyjal Summit: defeat all 13 encounters — 1 Legacy Point.
- Barrow Deeps: defeat all 8 encounters — 1 Legacy Point.
The first WoW Forever raids unlock globally on December 9, 2026, after the game launches on November 4. This means the raid-based Legacy Points belong to the initial 65-point challenge roster but cannot be earned on launch day. Blizzard has confirmed Hyjal Summit as a 20-player raid and Barrow Deeps as a maximum-level 10-player raid, with new tier sets and a legendary reward connected to the new raid content. Exact raid loot is intentionally being kept hidden: Blizzard has said item information is obfuscated until those items actually drop, so reliable boss-by-boss loot tables do not yet exist.
Onyxia's Lair Boss — Onyxia
Onyxia is the only encounter required for the Onyxia's Lair Legacy Challenge. The raid is returning as 40-player content, but Blizzard has not published a final Forever-specific encounter guide or loot table. The original Classic fight therefore remains useful only as preparation reference and should not be treated as proof that every ability, tuning value or item drop will be unchanged.
- Onyxia: the familiar Classic encounter uses frontal fire attacks and Cleave while grounded, knockback effects, an airborne phase with Fireballs, Deep Breath and Onyxian Whelps, and a final phase that adds Bellowing Roar before returning to ground attacks. Forever ability status: Blizzard has not confirmed that the complete Classic ability set is unchanged. Forever loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are intentionally hidden until they are discovered in live raid progression, so Classic Onyxia loot should not be presented as the confirmed Forever loot table.
Hyjal Summit Bosses, Abilities and Loot
The current Forever beta achievement data lists 13 encounters for the Hyjal Summit Legacy Challenge. The names below are supported by the current client, but their achievement-list order should not be treated as the confirmed raid progression order. Blizzard has not released an official encounter guide, and much of the raid data remains encrypted. A small number of beta spell records can nevertheless be associated with specific bosses; those records are included below as pre-release information and may change before the raid opens.
- Bandalar: Abilities: no reliable public beta spell set currently establishes Bandalar's encounter mechanics. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Ancient of Decay: Abilities: no reliable public beta spell set currently establishes the encounter mechanics. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Time-Lost Battalion: Abilities: the achievement confirms the encounter name, but a complete public mechanic set has not been exposed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Sylvestris Dusksong: Abilities: beta spell data includes Everlasting Bond, an effect that shares health between Stormwraith and Sylvestris Dusksong. The rest of the encounter kit is not yet established. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Old Gloomlurker: Abilities: beta data includes Renewing Fog, which restores 10% of maximum health every second while Old Gloomlurker is nearby. A separate Old Gloomlurker Eye item-effect record increases stealth detection, but the available data does not prove that it is a raid drop. Loot: no boss-specific loot table has been revealed.
- Gharalis the Abyssal: Abilities: no reliable public beta spell set currently establishes Gharalis's complete encounter mechanics. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Kathris the Haunted: Abilities: no reliable public beta spell set currently establishes the encounter mechanics. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Anara Chillwind: Abilities: beta spell records include Lunar Mark, which applies periodic Arcane damage and creates a slowing Collapsing Star when removed, and Umbral Mark, which applies periodic Shadow damage and creates an Umbral Void that damages and pulls nearby players toward its center. The current Umbral Mark data states that touching the Void is lethal. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Elder Minderel: Abilities: beta data includes a Crystallize mechanic that can freeze Elder Minderel in place for 10 seconds and increase Fire damage taken by 25%, suggesting an encounter interaction rather than a normal player debuff. The complete boss kit remains unknown. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Tracker Stillwind: Abilities: no reliable public beta spell set currently establishes the encounter mechanics. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Council of Thorns: Abilities: the achievement confirms the council encounter, but its complete mechanics have not been exposed in reliable public data. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- Nythus the Dreambound: Abilities: no reliable public beta spell set currently establishes the encounter mechanics. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are still hidden.
- The Wild King: Abilities: beta records currently expose several mechanics. Dreadful Screech fears players within roughly 30 yards; Assimilation creates absorbing magic that deals Nature damage and transfers health to The Wild King; and Royal Defiance draws on Nordrassil to increase his damage by 30% and haste by 20%. These values are pre-release and can still change. Loot: the specific drops are hidden, although Blizzard has said every raid boss is intended to have a rare, powerful chase item.
Blizzard has confirmed that the new raid ecosystem includes new tier sets and a legendary reward, and developers have said that tier pieces will be available across the game's different raid sizes. They have also stated that every raid boss is intended to have a powerful low-drop-rate chase item. What remains unknown is which specific Hyjal Summit boss drops each tier piece, weapon, trinket or chase item. Because WoW Forever deliberately obfuscates unrevealed item data, any complete Hyjal Summit loot table published before the raid is actually cleared should be treated as unverified.
Barrow Deeps Bosses, Abilities and Loot
The Barrow Deeps Legacy achievement currently lists eight encounters. The raid is planned as a maximum-level 10-player raid, but its encounter and loot data are even more heavily obscured than Hyjal Summit's. The names below come from the current achievement data; they do not establish the final kill order. Available beta research also indicates that important encounter rows and spell data remain encrypted, so complete mechanics cannot yet be responsibly reconstructed.
- Deepscar Matriarch: Abilities: no reliable public mechanic set has been revealed; the relevant raid encounter data remains hidden. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Elder Tangleclaw: Abilities: no reliable public mechanic set has been revealed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Khalith the Dreadspinner: Abilities: no reliable public mechanic set has been revealed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Well of Sorrow: Abilities: no reliable public mechanic set has been revealed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Amethrax: Abilities: encrypted beta effect names associated with Barrow Deeps include mechanics such as Amethyst Cleave and Amethyst Expulsion, but the available data does not establish enough context to assign a complete verified encounter kit or strategy. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Del'lynar Songwood: Abilities: no reliable public mechanic set has been revealed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Ravus and Darlissa: Abilities: no reliable public mechanic set has been revealed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
- Sonya Darkhallow: Abilities: the current client tracks Sonya Darkhallow as a Barrow Deeps boss, but a reliable public ability set has not yet been revealed. Loot: boss-specific drops and item stats are hidden.
Barrow Deeps is planned as a maximum-level 10-player raid, and Blizzard has connected the new raid content with new tier sets and a legendary reward. Developers have also confirmed the broader design goal of placing a powerful chase drop on every raid boss. However, Forever intentionally conceals unrevealed item information, so there is currently no reliable source that can identify which Barrow Deeps boss drops a particular tier piece, weapon, trinket or legendary-related item.
Which Legacy Points Can You Work Toward First?
There is no verified universal fastest 16-point route before the complete live 1–60 environment is available, but the challenge structure makes the early planning logic clear. Your first character naturally earns up to 3 points from leveling its own class, can earn up to 6 through its two non-gathering primary professions, and can add Adventure, dungeon and PvP objectives as those activities become relevant.
Blizzard's official launch calculation says a single character can eventually account for as many as 29 Legacy Points: 3 from its class, up to 6 from professions, 12 from PvP, 2 from Adventure and 6 from dungeons and raids. That is well above the 16-point character spending cap, so creating alts is not required simply to unlock a full launch Legacy build.
Some objectives are slower or time-gated by design. Field of Honor points require Weeks 4, 7 and 10, while raid Legacy Points cannot be earned before the December 9 raid unlock. For that reason, a sensible first-character plan is to collect milestones that overlap with leveling and normal progression instead of abandoning useful character development simply to chase one distant Legacy challenge.
Why Earn More Than the 16-Point Spending Cap?
Earning and spending Legacy Points are separate systems. At launch, each character can allocate up to 16 points, but your account can earn the full 65. Additional earned points continue to matter for the account-wide Legacy Reward Track and for long-term completion. The WoW Forever Legacy System guide covers the perk trees and character-specific allocations in more detail.
Blizzard has announced four initial collection rewards tied to Legacy progression: the Replica Ironforge Air Rifle toy, Spectral Bear Cub pet, Spectral Bear Tabard and Reins of the Spectral Bear mount. Blizzard also plans to add new Legacy Challenges, perks and reward-track content with future releases, so the system is designed to grow beyond the initial 65-point checklist.
WoW Forever Legacy Points FAQ
These questions cover rules that are easy to miss when planning account-wide Legacy progression.
Does spending Legacy Points on one character remove them from another?
No. Legacy Points are earned account-wide, but every character can choose its own Legacy allocation independently. One character's build does not force every alt to use the same setup, and spending points on one character does not reduce the number another non-Hardcore character can allocate.
Can you unlock the Legacy System before reaching level 25?
Yes. Blizzard says the Legacy System becomes available as soon as you earn your first Legacy Point. For most players that will happen at level 25, but it can also be unlocked earlier by reaching 150 in a non-gathering primary profession or by completing the full world-map exploration requirement.
How will Legacy Points work in Hardcore?
Hardcore is not part of the initial launch ruleset selection. When it arrives, non-Hardcore Legacy Challenges will not carry into Hardcore, while a Legacy Challenge earned in Hardcore will also count for the other rulesets. PvP Legacy Challenges cannot be completed in Hardcore, and Blizzard plans 12 additional Hardcore-specific Legacy Challenges when that version launches.
Conclusion
The useful way to approach Legacy Points is as a long-term account checklist rather than a separate grind that must be finished immediately. A single main character can earn enough points to reach the full launch spending cap, while additional classes, professions, PvP goals and collection objectives extend progression across the account. Prioritize challenges that overlap with what your character is already doing, then treat the time-gated Field of Honor and December 9 raid objectives as later milestones instead of delaying normal progression for points that are not yet available.
