Razorfen Downs is a five-player WoW Forever dungeon in the southern Barrens, close to the Thousand Needles border. For a normal progression run, level 37–43 is the most useful range, with level 39 being a strong at-level target. Current Forever data places the dungeon's creature range roughly around 37–46.
RFD is especially valuable because one run can combine faction dungeon quests, the Belnistrasz event, the rare Ragglesnout encounter, Amnennar the Coldbringer, strong leveling items and multiple drops that have been reworked for WoW Forever. Horde players should also pay attention to An Unholy Alliance, because its RFD step depends on earlier Razorfen Kraul progression.
Quick answer: prepare A Host of Evil and your faction's Amnennar quest before travelling, finish Scourge of the Downs before starting Extinguishing the Idol, check the side route for Ragglesnout, clear the skeletons around Mordresh before pulling him, and save interrupts and defensive cooldowns for Amnennar. Horde players should complete the Razorfen Kraul step of An Unholy Alliance first.

Razorfen Downs Level Range in WoW Forever
Several different level numbers are associated with Razorfen Downs, so it is important to separate access from a sensible progression range. Blizzard opened RFD at level 25+ during the level-30 beta testing phase. That was a testing-access threshold rather than a recommendation for a normal full clear.
For actual progression, a group around 37–43 is much more appropriate. Level 39 is a strong middle point for quests and boss combat. Groups closer to the upper end will have an easier time with Amnennar and the Belnistrasz event.
Forever data note: WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026. Blizzard can still adjust NPC levels, item stats and drop behavior before or shortly after launch. This guide separates established dungeon information from current pre-release Forever item data where necessary.
Razorfen Downs Location and Entrance
Razorfen Downs is located in the southern Barrens, just north of Thousand Needles. Do not confuse it with Razorfen Kraul. Both instances are located in the same broader region, but RFD has its own entrance farther south.

Horde Route
Fly to Camp Taurajo and travel south along the main Barrens road. Before reaching the Great Lift into Thousand Needles, turn east toward the Razorfen area and follow the path to the RFD entrance.
Alliance Route
A practical Alliance route is to reach Ratchet and travel south through the Barrens. Before the Great Lift, turn east toward Razorfen Downs. Because the area is hostile territory, lower-level Alliance groups should travel together where possible.
Razorfen Downs Map and Best Route
RFD is less linear than The Deadmines. The safest approach is to clear deliberately around the spider event, Mordresh's skeleton packs and the Belnistrasz objective instead of trying to skip through dense rooms.

Razorfen Downs has six major dungeon quest objectives. Two are faction-specific Amnennar quests, An Unholy Alliance is Horde-only and continues from Razorfen Kraul, while the remaining objectives can be completed by both factions.
| Quest | Required Level | Faction | Where It Starts | What You Need to Do |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| An Unholy Alliance | 28 | Horde | Varimathras, Undercity, after the earlier RFK chain step | Continue the chain into RFD and deal with Ambassador Malcin and the Death's Head cultists. |
| Bring the End | 37 | Horde | Andrew Brownell, Undercity | Kill Amnennar the Coldbringer and return with proof of his defeat. |
| Bring the Light | 39 | Alliance | Archbishop Benedictus, Stormwind | Defeat Amnennar the Coldbringer. |
| A Host of Evil | 28 | Both | Myriam Moonsinger, outside Razorfen Downs | Kill the required Death's Head and Razorfen enemies around the dungeon. |
| Scourge of the Downs | 32 | Both | Belnistrasz, inside RFD | Complete Belnistrasz's first dungeon objective before the escort follow-up. |
| Extinguishing the Idol | 32 | Both | Belnistrasz, after Scourge of the Downs | Protect Belnistrasz during the idol event and defeat the final encounter. |
An Unholy Alliance: Complete Razorfen Kraul First
An Unholy Alliance is the easiest RFD quest to arrive unprepared for. The Horde chain starts before Razorfen Downs and requires earlier Razorfen Kraul progression.
Before entering RFD, check our WoW Forever Razorfen Kraul quest guide and make sure the previous An Unholy Alliance step has been completed.
The Forever version is more interesting because the current reward pool includes the new Cultist's Chestguard alongside Skullbreaker, Nail Spitter and Zealot's Robe.
Scourge of the Downs and Extinguishing the Idol
The Belnistrasz chain is the most important coordination point in RFD. Do not start the escort event until every eligible party member has finished Scourge of the Downs and accepted Extinguishing the Idol.
During the event, the group must protect Belnistrasz while several enemy waves attack. Keep loose enemies away from the healer and Belnistrasz, avoid accidental extra pulls and save area damage for the larger waves.
The event ends with Plaguemaw the Rotting. The quest rewards Dragonclaw Ring, so it is worth including in a first quest-loaded clear.
Best Quest-Loaded Razorfen Downs Route
- Horde: complete the Razorfen Kraul prerequisite for An Unholy Alliance.
- Pick up Bring the End in Undercity or Bring the Light in Stormwind.
- Take A Host of Evil from Myriam Moonsinger outside RFD.
- Enter with enough bag space for quest and boss items.
- Clear toward Tuten'kash and complete the spider gong event.
- Kill Tuten'kash.
- Clear the skeleton packs around Mordresh Fire Eye before engaging the boss.
- Kill Mordresh and continue through Glutton.
- Check the side route for rare Ragglesnout.
- Meet Belnistrasz and complete Scourge of the Downs.
- Make sure every eligible party member has completed the first Belnistrasz step.
- Accept Extinguishing the Idol and start the event only when everyone is ready.
- Protect Belnistrasz and defeat Plaguemaw the Rotting.
- Continue toward Amnennar the Coldbringer.
- Clear nearby packs before the final pull, then defeat Amnennar and complete your faction quest.
Razorfen Downs Bosses
| Boss | Status | Main Mechanics |
|---|---|---|
| Tuten'kash | Standard event boss | Spider waves, Curse of Tuten'kash, Virulent Poison, Web Spray |
| Mordresh Fire Eye | Standard | Fireball, Fire Nova, dangerous surrounding skeleton packs |
| Glutton | Standard | Disease Cloud, Enrage |
| Ragglesnout | Rare | Dominate Mind, Heal, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Word: Pain |
| Plaguemaw the Rotting | Quest/event boss | Putrid Stench, Withered Touch, Belnistrasz protection event |
| Amnennar the Coldbringer | Final boss | Frostbolt, Frost Nova, Amnennar's Wrath, Frost Spectres |
Tuten'kash Strategy
Tuten'kash is reached through the spider gong event. Each activation brings additional enemies, so restore Mana and let the tank stabilize before triggering the next wave.
During the boss fight, face Tuten'kash away from the group. Web Spray can disrupt positioning, while Virulent Poison and the boss curse add pressure over time. Cleanse or dispel when your group composition allows it.
Tuten'kash Loot
- Carapace of Tuten'kash
- Silky Spider Cape — changed in Forever
- Arachnid Gloves
Mordresh Fire Eye Strategy
Clear the skeletons around Mordresh before pulling him. The surrounding room becomes much more dangerous if several packs join the boss fight.
Interrupt Fireball whenever possible. Avoid unnecessary stacking so Fire Nova does not create extra group-wide pressure.
Mordresh Fire Eye Loot
- Glowing Eye of Mordresh — substantially reworked for Forever
- Mordresh's Lifeless Skull — changed caster profile
- Deathmage Sash
Glutton Strategy
Glutton is straightforward until Enrage increases pressure on the tank. Save defensive cooldowns for the later part of the fight instead of using everything immediately.
Disease Cloud adds sustained damage. Disease removal helps, but the encounter is mainly a tank-and-healer check when the group enters with full resources.
Glutton Loot
- Glutton's Cleaver — stronger damage and a reworked bleed in current Forever data
- Fleshhide Shoulders
Ragglesnout Rare
Ragglesnout is a rare encounter, so do not plan a single run around a guaranteed spawn. If he appears, clear nearby enemies first.
Interrupt Heal and dangerous Shadow casts. Dominate Mind can temporarily remove a party member from your control and becomes significantly more dangerous if additional trash is alive.
Ragglesnout Loot
Plaguemaw the Rotting Strategy
Plaguemaw appears as the final encounter of the Belnistrasz event. The priority is to reach the boss with Belnistrasz alive and the party under control.
Keep the boss on the tank, maintain space around the healer and respond to Putrid Stench and Withered Touch. Do not turn the end of the escort into an unnecessary large trash pull.
Plaguemaw Loot
Amnennar the Coldbringer Strategy
Amnennar is the main final-boss check in RFD. Position the group close enough for controlled add management but avoid stacking everyone into the same Frost effects.
Interrupt Frostbolt whenever possible. Frost Nova can lock players in place, while summoned Frost Spectres create extra pressure as the fight progresses. Kill the spirits quickly if they begin overwhelming the healer.
Horde players complete Bring the End here, while Alliance players complete Bring the Light. Current quest rewards include both Vanquisher's Sword and Amberglow Talisman.
Amnennar Loot
- Coldrage Dagger — changed in Forever
- Icemetal Barbute — changed stat profile
- Deathchill Armor — includes Spell Power in current data
- Robes of the Lich — reworked toward Frost and Shadow damage
- Bonefingers

What Changed in Razorfen Downs for WoW Forever?
RFD is not simply the old Classic dungeon with a new label. Current Forever client comparisons identify multiple changed Razorfen Downs drops, while An Unholy Alliance also has a new Forever reward option. This changes the gearing value of several familiar bosses.
| Item | Current Forever Change | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Silky Spider Cape | Current data shows +10 Stamina and reduced duration of movement-impairing effects. | A more specialized defensive and utility cape. |
| Glowing Eye of Mordresh | Current data adds Intellect, Healing and Spell Damage. | Mordresh becomes much more relevant to healers and casters. |
| Mordresh's Lifeless Skull | Shifted toward Spirit and Shadow Spell Damage. | More targeted caster value. |
| Glutton's Cleaver | Higher weapon damage with a stronger reworked bleed. | More attractive for physical leveling builds. |
| Coldrage Dagger | Stronger current Frost proc and slow. | Useful damage plus control. |
| Icemetal Barbute | Current stat mix adds Intellect while retaining defensive stats. | More useful for hybrid and tank builds. |
| Deathchill Armor | Current data adds direct spell-oriented power. | Higher value for caster builds. |
| Robes of the Lich | Reworked toward Frost and Shadow spell damage. | Clearer specialization than the old generic profile. |
| Cultist's Chestguard | New Forever reward option from An Unholy Alliance. | Additional reason for Horde characters to complete the RFK → RFD chain. |
Important: these comparisons are based on current pre-release Forever client and database data. Final live tuning can change. Check the linked Wowhead tooltips again if you are planning to farm one specific item.
Best Razorfen Downs Loot by Role
Physical melee: Glutton's Cleaver, X'caliboar, Vanquisher's Sword and several Amnennar drops are the main items to compare against your current weapon.
Casters: Glowing Eye of Mordresh, Mordresh's Lifeless Skull, Robes of the Lich and Deathchill Armor are more interesting in Forever because several now provide direct spell-oriented value.
Healers: Glowing Eye of Mordresh is one of the strongest current-data targets, while Amberglow Talisman can make the faction quest valuable even without a lucky boss drop.
Tanks and hybrids: Carapace of Tuten'kash, Icemetal Barbute and Savage Boar's Guard are the main defensive or mixed-stat targets.
Recommended Group and Preparation
A conventional one tank, one healer and three DPS composition is the safest setup.
- Bring at least one reliable interrupt for Mordresh and Amnennar.
- Disease and curse removal are useful if your group has them.
- Bring food, Mana drinks and enough bag space for quest items and loot.
- Horde players should verify their previous An Unholy Alliance step before travelling.
- Do not begin the Belnistrasz event until the entire party is ready.
- Remember that Ragglesnout is a rare spawn and is not guaranteed.
Razorfen Downs Mistakes to Avoid
- Confusing Blizzard's level-25 beta access with the practical progression level.
- Entering without A Host of Evil or your faction's Amnennar quest.
- Horde players skipping the Razorfen Kraul prerequisite for An Unholy Alliance.
- Starting Extinguishing the Idol before party members finish Scourge of the Downs.
- Pulling Mordresh before clearing the surrounding skeletons.
- Ignoring Glutton's Enrage and using tank cooldowns too early.
- Assuming Ragglesnout is guaranteed to spawn.
- Tunneling Amnennar while Frost Spectres overwhelm the group.
- Evaluating Forever loot from old Classic item stats.
Is Razorfen Downs Worth Repeating?
The first quest-loaded clear provides the highest guaranteed value. Repeat runs make sense when targeting a specific reworked Forever item, Amnennar gear, a Ragglesnout rare drop or a weapon upgrade that will remain useful for several levels.
