The Twin Fangs Boss Guide – Venomous Abyss

The Twin Fangs are the sixth encounter in The Venomous Abyss, the main raid of WoW Midnight Season 2. The encounter pits the raid against two serpents, Vexhul and Ithraz, at the same time.

The fight revolves around managing Eternal Venom, a permanent stacking debuff gained from several mechanics. Reaching 9 applications kills the affected player, so the encounter is less about avoiding one single lethal ability and more about controlling poison stacks throughout the entire fight.

Ithraz's Ravenous Feast is the primary way to remove Eternal Venom. Players therefore need to deliberately participate in the correct Feast soaks while avoiding unnecessary poison applications from Vexhul.

The Twin Fangs Quick Strategy

MechanicWhat to Do
Eternal VenomTrack your stacks at all times. Reaching 9 applications kills the player.
Caustic GlobulesAssign players to intercept the globules before they rupture and apply Eternal Venom to the entire raid.
Venomous EmergenceKill Vexhul's spawned adds quickly and avoid their Corrosive Spit frontal lines.
Stir the DepthsDodge the venom waves crossing the platform. Getting hit adds Eternal Venom.
Ravenous FeastSoak as assigned. A successful hit removes an application of Eternal Venom from affected players.
Coiling IchorMove toward the edge before the debuff expires so the resulting Congealed Gore does not consume valuable central space.
Stone BreakerTanks and assigned players must handle the impacts correctly. If nobody is struck, the raid is punished instead.
SubmergeMove away from impact zones, avoid Noxious Slick and reposition for Vile Flood and Sanguine Storm.
Uncoiled WrathKeep Vexhul and Ithraz reasonably close in health and finish them close together.

The Twin Fangs Encounter Overview

The Twin Fangs is a sustained two-target encounter. Vexhul primarily pressures the raid with poison, globules, adds and venom waves, while Ithraz provides the main Eternal Venom removal mechanic through Ravenous Feast and adds positioning, tank and blood-based mechanics.

Both serpents gain energy during the encounter. At 100 energy they Submerge, reposition and then attack the raid together. Vexhul uses Vile Flood, while Ithraz covers the platform with Sanguine Storm.

The fight then returns to its repeating core pattern until one serpent dies. Killing one significantly earlier than the other is dangerous because the survivor gains Uncoiled Wrath, repeatedly increasing its damage.

Eternal Venom – The Main Twin Fangs Mechanic

Eternal Venom is the central resource of the encounter. Many avoidable and unavoidable mechanics add applications of the debuff.

  • Eternal Venom deals repeated Nature damage.
  • The effect stacks throughout the fight.
  • At 9 applications, the affected player dies.
  • Ravenous Feast can consume an application from players struck by the soak.
  • On Mythic, dying while affected by Eternal Venom creates additional Caustic Globules.

The correct approach is not to treat every Eternal Venom stack as an emergency. Instead, raid members should avoid unnecessary stacks and use assigned Ravenous Feast windows to reduce their total before reaching the lethal threshold.

Common Eternal Venom Mistakes

  • letting Caustic Globules expire without being intercepted;
  • standing in Stir the Depths waves;
  • being struck by Corrosive Spit;
  • crossing Vile Flood;
  • ignoring your own stack count before Ravenous Feast;
  • using the wrong Feast soak on Heroic or Mythic.

Vexhul Mechanics

Caustic Deluge and Caustic Globules

Caustic Deluge targets Vexhul's current tank and repeatedly ejects acid around the target. Each impact creates a Caustic Globule.

A globule eventually ruptures and applies Eternal Venom across the raid. If a player contacts it first, the effect is contained to that player instead.

  • The Vexhul tank should position predictably so globules appear in manageable locations.
  • Assign players with safe Eternal Venom counts to intercept globules.
  • Do not allow multiple globules to expire simultaneously.
  • Players soaking globules must continue monitoring their poison stacks.

Caustic Deluge also applies Envenomed to the tank, increasing subsequent damage from the ability. Tanks should plan defensive cooldowns and swaps around this repeated pressure.

Venomous Emergence

Venomous Emergence summons Spawns of Vexhul and applies raid-wide pressure.

The adds repeatedly use Corrosive Spit, targeting a player and firing a frontal line. Anyone struck gains another Eternal Venom application.

  • Swap to the adds quickly.
  • Do not point Corrosive Spit through the raid.
  • Use interrupts, control and burst damage where appropriate.
  • Avoid trading additional Eternal Venom stacks for unnecessary boss uptime.

Stir the Depths

During Stir the Depths, Vexhul churns the surrounding venom and creates waves that travel across the platform.

The waves deal damage and apply Eternal Venom to players they hit. This is one of the clearest avoidable sources of additional stacks.

Prioritize a clean dodge over finishing a cast or maintaining perfect uptime.

Ithraz Mechanics

Ravenous Feast

Ravenous Feast is the most important coordinated mechanic in the encounter. Ithraz attempts to consume players three times in quick succession. Each hit deals Physical damage split among players inside the soak area.

When a player is successfully struck, Ithraz consumes an application of Eternal Venom from that player.

On Heroic and Mythic, players hit by Ravenous Feast receive Feasted, dramatically increasing damage from another Feast hit for a short duration and preventing another Eternal Venom application from being removed immediately.

How to Handle Ravenous Feast

  • Assign soak groups before the pull.
  • Players with high Eternal Venom stacks should know which Feast hit is theirs.
  • Do not repeatedly soak after receiving Feasted on Heroic or Mythic.
  • Use defensive cooldowns when Feast overlaps with high raid damage.
  • Healers should prepare for both the group soak and continuing poison damage.

Coiling Ichor

Coiling Ichor affects several players and becomes increasingly dangerous until it expires. When the debuff ends it leaves Congealed Gore, a persistent pool that damages and slows players standing inside it.

Move toward the outer edge of the usable platform before expiration, but do not block routes required for upcoming waves, Feast soaks or Submerge movement.

Stone Breaker

Stone Breaker pushes players away and then causes Ithraz to strike the platform repeatedly.

The impacts need to be handled deliberately. Each successful impact increases subsequent Stone Breaker damage taken, while allowing an impact to hit nobody causes raid-wide punishment instead.

Tanks should establish the movement and soak pattern before the pull rather than improvising after the knockback.

Submerge, Vile Flood and Sanguine Storm

At 100 energy, both Twin Fangs Submerge and reposition.

The Submerge impacts create Noxious Slick, which deals Nature damage and increases damage taken while standing inside it. Avoid the impact locations and keep the raid's future movement paths clear.

After repositioning:

  • Vexhul uses Vile Flood — a long frontal torrent of poison that repeatedly applies Eternal Venom to players caught inside.
  • Ithraz uses Sanguine Storm — repeated blood impacts across the platform that must be dodged.

On Heroic and Mythic, Sanguine Storm also creates temporary Congealed Gore zones, further reducing safe space.

The Twin Fangs Normal Strategy

Normal establishes the full encounter loop without the most punishing difficulty additions.

  1. Start both bosses together and keep them available for two-target damage when positioning allows.
  2. Track Eternal Venom from the first mechanic onward.
  3. Intercept Caustic Globules before they expire.
  4. Kill Vexhul's adds and avoid Corrosive Spit.
  5. Dodge Stir the Depths waves.
  6. Use Ravenous Feast to remove Eternal Venom from players who need it.
  7. Drop Coiling Ichor pools toward safe outer positions.
  8. Handle Stone Breaker without leaving an impact completely unsoaked.
  9. During Submerge, avoid Noxious Slick and reposition for the following attacks.
  10. Keep both serpents reasonably close in health before finishing them.

The Twin Fangs Heroic Strategy

Heroic makes Ravenous Feast significantly more assignment-dependent.

Because Feasted prevents the same player from efficiently handling repeated Feast hits, the raid should prepare separate soak groups for the three attacks.

A practical approach is:

  • Feast 1: Group A;
  • Feast 2: Group B;
  • Feast 3: Group C.

Players should still be reassigned dynamically when their Eternal Venom count makes another group safer, but the raid needs a clear default plan.

Heroic Sanguine Storm also leaves temporary Congealed Gore, so uncontrolled pool placement earlier in the encounter becomes more punishing.

The Twin Fangs Mythic Strategy

Mythic adds several mechanics that turn poison management into a much stricter coordination check.

Mythic Eternal Venom Deaths

When a player dies while affected by Eternal Venom on Mythic, additional Caustic Globules appear. One death can therefore create further poison pressure and quickly destabilize the pull.

Blood Torrent and Barbed Bulwark

Ithraz uses Blood Torrent on its current target, repeatedly applying a healing absorb.

On Mythic, the expelled blood forms a Barbed Bulwark around Caustic Globules. The Bulwark knocks players back while active and must be interrupted to destroy the protection.

This means the raid cannot treat globule control as an isolated mechanic anymore: interrupt assignments and globule management become linked.

Rouse the Brood

Ithraz also uses Rouse the Brood, summoning Broodlings of Ithraz.

The adds cast Visceral Burst, causing heavy raid-wide damage with a stacking follow-up effect. Interrupting the cast forces the broodling to retreat.

Assign interrupts before the pull. Allowing multiple casts through is extremely dangerous when combined with Eternal Venom and Toxic Fumes.

Tainted Blood

Mythic Ravenous Feast creates Tainted Blood founts. These must be resolved before they expire; otherwise Tainted Burst inflicts severe raid-wide Shadow damage.

Plan healer positioning and throughput around these founts rather than treating them as incidental ground effects.

Tank Strategy for The Twin Fangs

  • Keep Vexhul and Ithraz positioned for cleave without overlapping dangerous frontals through the raid.
  • Plan cooldowns and swaps around Caustic Deluge and its stacking tank pressure.
  • Keep Caustic Globule spawning locations predictable.
  • Handle Stone Breaker according to the assigned impact order.
  • Keep both bosses in melee range whenever possible to avoid ranged punishment abilities.
  • Coordinate boss health near the end because the surviving serpent gains Uncoiled Wrath.
  • On Mythic, communicate Blood Torrent and Barbed Bulwark timing clearly.

Healer Strategy for The Twin Fangs

  • Track players with high Eternal Venom stacks.
  • Prepare raid cooldowns for Ravenous Feast and other overlapping raid damage.
  • Watch tanks during Caustic Deluge and Blood Torrent.
  • Expect repeated background damage from Toxic Fumes.
  • Do not let low-health players intercept Caustic Globules without support.
  • On Mythic, coordinate healing around Tainted Blood and healing absorbs.

DPS Strategy for The Twin Fangs

  • Use efficient two-target cleave whenever mechanics permit.
  • Swap quickly to Spawns of Vexhul.
  • Interrupt dangerous add casts on Mythic.
  • Dodge Stir the Depths and Vile Flood rather than accepting extra Eternal Venom stacks for uptime.
  • Follow Ravenous Feast assignments precisely.
  • Keep Vexhul and Ithraz reasonably balanced before the final burn.

Bloodlust and Final Burn

Using Bloodlust/Heroism on the pull is a straightforward strategy because both targets are active and the raid can benefit from full cooldown alignment before the arena becomes more constrained.

The more important rule is the finish. When one serpent dies, the survivor gains Uncoiled Wrath and repeatedly increases its damage. Avoid creating a long one-boss execute phase.

Bring Vexhul and Ithraz to comparable health, then commit cooldowns to finish both within a short window.

Taking a Bite out of Slime Achievement

Taking a Bite out of Slime is the Twin Fangs achievement required for the raid's Glory achievement chain.

On Normal difficulty or higher, the raid must defeat The Twin Fangs after feeding Ithraz the following slimes in the required order during Ravenous Feast:

  1. Crunchy Appetizer
  2. Sumptuous Soup
  3. Tasty Blob
  4. Jiggly Dessert

This changes Ravenous Feast from a normal poison-management soak into an achievement assignment, so designate the slime carriers and feeding order before pulling the boss.

For the complete Glory route and all eight encounter achievements, see the Venomous Abyss Achievements Guide.
