The Stockade in WoW Forever has six dungeon quests, all exclusive to Alliance players. Four can be picked up directly from NPCs in Stormwind or nearby zones, while two require previous quest chains. This guide covers every quest giver, minimum level, objective, reward, and the best order for completing the dungeon without missing important targets.
If you want to complete all six quests in one run, prepare The Stockade Riots through The Deadmines quest chain and unlock The Fury Runs Deep in the Wetlands before entering. The remaining objectives involve killing specific prisoners, defeating three named bosses, and collecting bandanas from Defias enemies.
All 6 Stockades Quests in WoW Forever
The Stockade is a five-player dungeon in Stormwind City, recommended for characters around levels 24–32. The minimum level required to accept a quest is not necessarily a suitable level to clear the dungeon.
| Quest | Min. Level | Quest Giver | Objective |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quell the Uprising | 22 | Warden Thelwater, Stormwind | Kill 26 Defias enemies of three specified types |
| The Color of Blood | 22 | Nikova Raskol, Stormwind | Collect 10 Red Wool Bandanas |
| Crime and Punishment | 22 | Councilman Millstipe, Duskwood | Collect Dextren Ward's hand |
| What Comes Around... | 22 | Guard Berton, Redridge Mountains | Collect Targorr the Dread's head |
| The Fury Runs Deep | 25 | Motley Garmason, Wetlands | Collect Kam Deepfury's head |
| The Stockade Riots | 16 | Warden Thelwater, Stormwind | Collect Bazil Thredd's head |
All six quests are Alliance-only. Horde characters should not plan on obtaining the same quest experience or rewards. Because the dungeon is deep inside an Alliance capital, it is also an impractical leveling destination for Horde groups.
Where to Pick Up Every Stockades Quest
Quell the Uprising — Warden Thelwater
Quest ID: 387. Minimum level: 22. Speak to Warden Thelwater outside The Stockade in Stormwind City, near 41, 58.
You must kill:
- 10 Defias Prisoners.
- 8 Defias Convicts.
- 8 Defias Insurgents.
The enemy types are spread throughout the prison. Pay attention to the exact enemy names because killing one type does not fulfill another objective. Some dungeon layouts may not contain enough Convicts for all required kills immediately; wait for respawns or make another run if necessary.
This quest awards experience, currency, and Stormwind reputation rather than a choice of gear.
The Color of Blood — Nikova Raskol
Quest ID: 388. Minimum level: 22. Find Nikova Raskol in Stormwind's Old Town. She patrols the area, so she may not be standing at one fixed coordinate. A useful starting point is around 73, 46.
Collect 10 Red Wool Bandanas from the Defias prisoners inside The Stockade. The bandanas are drops rather than guaranteed rewards from every kill, so check your progress during the run.
Keep clearing suitable Defias enemies until you have all ten bandanas. If the instance is empty before the collection is complete, additional enemy respawns or another run may be needed.
The quest rewards experience, currency, and Stormwind reputation. There is no equipment selection tied to this quest.
Crime and Punishment — Councilman Millstipe
Quest ID: 377. Minimum level: 22. Visit Councilman Millstipe in Darkshire, Duskwood, near 72, 48.
Millstipe wants proof of Dextren Ward's death. Inside The Stockade, find Dextren Ward near the far end of the western corridor, defeat him, and loot the Hand of Dextren Ward.
Dextren can use a fear effect. Clear nearby cells before attacking, because a feared player can accidentally run into additional groups of prisoners.
The Forever reward data lists three equipment choices:
- Ambassador's Boots.
- Darkshire Mail Leggings.
- Town Clerk's Mittens.
Return to Councilman Millstipe in Darkshire to complete the quest.
What Comes Around... — Guard Berton
Quest ID: 386. Minimum level: 22. Pick up the quest from Guard Berton in Lakeshire, Redridge Mountains, near 26, 46.
Inside The Stockade, defeat Targorr the Dread and collect his head. Targorr can appear in different cells or side rooms, so check the early and northern prison corridors instead of relying on a single fixed location.
Bring the head back to Guard Berton. The Forever quest database lists the following rewards:
- Lucine Longsword.
- Hardened Root Staff.
- Ursine Hammer.
The three-item selection is worth checking against the older Classic version, which commonly lists fewer options.
The Fury Runs Deep — Motley Garmason
Quest ID: 378. Minimum level: 25. Travel to Dun Modr in the Wetlands and speak to Motley Garmason, near 49, 18.
This quest is not immediately available. First complete The Dark Iron War, which requires defeating Dark Iron enemies around Dun Modr. These outdoor enemies can be challenging for a character in the middle 20s, so bringing a group may be useful.
After turning in The Dark Iron War, accept The Fury Runs Deep. Your Stockades objective is to kill Kam Deepfury and collect his head.
The Forever data lists three possible equipment rewards:
- Belt of Vindication.
- Headbasher.
- Magistrate's Pantaloons.
Complete the quest at Motley Garmason in the Wetlands. This is one of the easier objectives to miss if you form a Stockades group without checking the outdoor prerequisites first.
The Stockade Riots — Deadmines Quest Chain
Quest ID: 391. Minimum level: 16, but completing it requires a group capable of reaching Bazil Thredd in The Stockade.
The quest belongs to the long Defias storyline and is not a standalone pickup from Warden Thelwater.
- Enter The Deadmines and defeat Edwin VanCleef.
- Loot An Unsent Letter and use it to begin The Unsent Letter.
- Deliver the letter to Baros Alexston in Stormwind.
- Continue with Bazil Thredd, which sends you to Warden Thelwater.
- Accept The Stockade Riots from the Warden.
- Defeat Bazil Thredd in the eastern wing of The Stockade and collect his head.
- Return the head to Warden Thelwater.
Bazil Thredd is not necessarily the last quest in the overall Defias storyline. After The Stockade Riots, the chain continues through additional Stormwind investigations, eventually leading toward the Seal of Wrynn reward. Do not confuse that later ring with the immediate Stockades quest reward.
Best One-Run Route for All Stockades Quests
The goal is to enter with all available quests already accepted. You can reduce backtracking by combining distant pickups with your normal leveling route instead of crossing several zones solely for a short dungeon run.
- Deadmines preparation: If you want The Stockade Riots, complete the VanCleef letter chain before arranging the run.
- Redridge and Duskwood: Pick up What Comes Around... from Guard Berton and Crime and Punishment from Councilman Millstipe.
- Wetlands: Complete The Dark Iron War and accept The Fury Runs Deep from Motley Garmason.
- Stormwind: Accept Quell the Uprising and The Stockade Riots from Warden Thelwater. Find Nikova Raskol in Old Town for The Color of Blood.
- Enter The Stockade: Clear enemies steadily, tracking Defias kill types and Red Wool Bandana drops from the beginning.
- Optional cells and western wing: Locate Targorr the Dread, Kam Deepfury, and Dextren Ward. Collect the required quest trophies from each boss.
- Eastern wing: Defeat Hamhock if he is on your route, then continue to Bazil Thredd and collect his head.
- Before leaving: Check that the kill counts, bandanas, and four boss-related quest items are complete. Revisit rooms with surviving enemies if necessary.
- Quest turn-ins: Hand in the Stormwind quests first, then complete the Redridge, Duskwood, and Wetlands turn-ins during your next outdoor route.
The route prioritizes quest coverage rather than claiming a measured fastest clear time. The Color of Blood depends on drops, while Quell the Uprising can be limited by the number of eligible enemies in an instance. A single run is therefore not guaranteed to finish every collection and kill objective.

Forever includes additional reward options in several quests compared with older Classic listings. Review the actual item stats before selecting a reward; the highest-damage weapon or highest-armor piece is not automatically best for every class.
Stockades Entrance, Bosses, and Preparation
The Stockade entrance is in Stormwind City, beside the canal near the Mage Quarter, around 41, 58 on the Stormwind map. You do not need a special key to enter the main instance.
The dungeon's important named enemies include Targorr the Dread, Kam Deepfury, Dextren Ward, Hamhock, and Bazil Thredd. Bruegal Ironknuckle is a rare spawn and should not be considered guaranteed.
For a regular group, bring one tank, one healer, and three damage dealers. Clear enemies close to boss rooms, interrupt dangerous casts where possible, and avoid fighting Dextren Ward with several unopened prison cells nearby.
The dungeon's normal progression level range is around 24–32. For a group planning to complete the full quest package comfortably, the middle-to-upper part of that range provides more margin than entering at the minimum level of an individual quest.
Where Stockades Fits Into WoW Forever Leveling
The Stockade is useful to Alliance players because it is centrally located in Stormwind and several quests provide experience, reputation, and equipment choices. Its greatest drawback is the preparation time required to collect quests from Redridge Mountains, Duskwood, and the Wetlands.
If you are leveling with a planned route, collect these quests as you visit their respective zones instead of making unnecessary trips. Our WoW Forever Alliance Leveling Guide covers the broader 1–60 route, and the Dungeon Quests Guide helps you prepare other instances.
WoW Forever Stockades Boost and Dungeon Runs
If you need a group to complete The Stockade or specific boss objectives, explore the WoW Forever Stockade Boost. Before ordering, confirm whether the service includes all five main boss encounters, optional rooms, and enough enemy kills for the quests you want to finish.
Quest chains that begin outside the dungeon must be unlocked beforehand unless the selected service explicitly includes them. Random drops, including Red Wool Bandanas and optional boss loot, should not be treated as guaranteed in a single run.
Content verification: Quest names, NPCs, minimum quest levels, and rewards are based on current Wowhead Forever records and pre-release dungeon guides. Live-server changes may affect individual drops, rewards, or enemy availability.
